Title: Something that happened to me this morning
Post by: Robin-Graves on November 04, 2009, 06:24:55 AM
I was popping down to the atm to get a few pounds for the day when a bloke in a van stopped me and asked me where he could find Stwerart Street.
I told him I was new here and on holliday from America and I dont know the streets that well.
He says " Another Bloody American".
I smiled and said "Yes,, were taking over you know,,Walmart will be here next week".
We both had a laugh and he said " Hey mate,, you have anice holliday " Waved and left.
I just thought it was cool. In America, people dont have that kind of sense of humor lol

Well it looks like it was your 'American sense of humour' that actually prevailed.

Was the guy a Scot or a sassenach BTW?

Superb,at least there are some decent people left in this world.
The thing that makes me laugh is hardly anyone in most English towns know where streets are,as i moved about a bit,i'll ask do you know where such and such street is,they've lived there nearly all their life, and they say sorry don't know. :D

Ive noticed that alot of side streets change their names as they go along.
And in most cities( ot in Texas) are laid out in a gridpattern,, you guys have streetsthat meander all over the place.lol
Texasdoes the same thing.
You can getlost in Dallas just by walking to the corner.
Superb,at least there are some decent people left in this world.

Most ivemet here are decent folks compared to other places Ive been.

I see you left yourself out of the equation (self evidently speaking).

No need to know street names in the U.K, you just need to know the Tescos is next door to the Green Man and the post office is 3 doors down from The Red Lion.

Asda is owned by Walmart, on the main signs outside the stores usually state: Part of the Walmart family >_>.
