Obviously, this has nothing to do with the site and all to do with ME. Surprised? ::) I didnt think so. I am a Girl Scout Leader and have 13 2nd-3rd graders and we want to do some work on a patch/badge that requires us to correspond with a troop from another country. If any of you have a daughter, niece, neighbor kid, grandchild, etc that is in scouting in your native country and might be interested in working together with my group I would love to hear from you. I posted this on our site because I know so many of you and trust you. Well......most of you anyway...... ;D :P AJ do not email me. :-* :-* :-* :-*
Give me a heads up if this is something that you would be interested in doing.

I'm sure they still exist, but I haven't set eyes on a Boy scout or Girl guide in many years, nor do I know of anyone who has children involved with the organisation.
I remember a few years back when Girlguiding UK brought out the "guide to living for modern girls", which aimed to teach the girls Microsoft Word, how to assemble flat-pack furniture and making sure they practise safe sex. Maybe the end of the learning semaphore, making beds and lighting fires days, was the final nail in the coffin? Without semaphore, it had little else to offer IMO.

We have boy scout's in the village, don't know about girl scout. I'll find out and PM you.

Are you somewhere near one of these: North (http://www.girlguidingscotland.org.uk/information/info_ayrshire_north.htm) South (http://www.girlguidingscotland.org.uk/information/info_ayrshire_south.htm)?

Well Goldshirt's daughter is in Girl Scouts and Subv was in scouting for alot of years so Im hoping that one of them will come through for me as well. Maybe posting this will be the pressure that they need. :D Kidding.....I dont want anyone to feel pressured into anything but I would like to make a contact if its possible.
Thanks for putting out some feelers Indie. Anything you find out would help. And since my girls are 7 & 8 I dont think that I will need to use the "safe sex" thing for along time. But thanks anyway Smokes.

About 30 miles from Kilwinning (which has the oldest Archery Club and oldest Archery competition in the world) one of my old managers is from there and could phone him up and call in a favour.
And about 15 miles from Alloway (birth place of Robert Burns)
my girls are 7 & 8
We have what we call Brownies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girlguiding_UK) in the village which are for 7 to 10 year old.
I will ask about in the morning.

Like indie said, over here they'd be brownies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brownie_%28Girl_Guides%29)

Thats what they are called here too. My troop is a Brownie troop. I knew that instead of being called 'scouts' they went by 'guides' in the UK so I didnt know if the Brownie name would be the same or not.

Cindy, I'd be glad to help. Used to be a Girl Scout but that was in a past life.
Except I have two boys. Who don't like girls. Yet.
And oh, all my pics were water damaged. None of them survived the flood.

So I have Goldshirts daughters troop and Subv lined up. Awesome!!! The girls will be thrilled. Im even gonna try and figure out a way that we might be able to interview Subv live via Skype sometime in the future. Technology is SO great. :D
