The Daily Show[/i] and The Colbert Report (
m don't watch much TV ,not religiously anyway.
i am partial to watching HOUSE when its on.
I downloaded the complete series of apparitions for my better half last night. She is chomping at the bit to start watching it!!
Jack - Major Boobage and Brittany's New Look were masterful works of humor.
Yolanda!! Explain how they can cancel Apparitions but air "Demons"? It has some exorcists and demons but it's rubbish I tell you. Have you seen it yet?
I'll give you Major Boobage
Hilarious.
Yeah, I guess I really shouldn't hae forgotten to mention It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, that show damn' rocks!
My favourite program has to be "Pushing Daisies". I can't believe how good Anna Friel is in it and the storyline is consistent for once. I hope this series runs and runs as I eagerly await each week's episode. I usually hate the mushy parts of programs but I wish those to would kiss already!!as far as i know it's canceled along with dirty sexy money and eli stone
and i'm very curious about upcoming dollhouse by joss whedon
Heroes.....when we bloody get it back on
Masterchef...though it is a cheezy format, i still like it
Sky Sports News lol
Masterchef is the only program me and the missus watch together, at least we did till this place came along :-\up to now, i think that last weeks winner is the best one yet in this series, the young kid who got through this week will be found out in my opinion...
Heroes.....when we bloody get it back oni've had it with those stupid twists and turns on heroes after the 13th episode. i loved s1 though.
I can't believe he's working with FOX again after how they treated Firefly...
i've had it with those stupid twists and turns on heroes after the 13th episode. i loved s1 though.i have to agree that s3 hasn't been the best, how they killed off Adam Munroe, given that they were all scared to death at the very mention of his name in s1/2, was just bloody silly.
but watching s3 feels to me like the producer are thinking about how much money will we get out of s4 instead of telling a proper story.
i have to agree that s3 hasn't been the best, how they killed off Adam Munroe, given that they were all scared to death at the very mention of his name in s1/2, was just bloody silly.
yeah, actually i already forget how they killed him, and maybe he'll come back anyways --- because of some time travelling ;)but as we know, anything can change in a scenes notice in the world of Heroes lol
i was glad to see that "veronica mars" or whatever her name was finally died...
but as we know, anything can change in a scenes notice in the world of Heroes lol
just watched masterchef......i think we just saw the series winner go through
i have to agree that s3 hasn't been the best, how they killed off Adam Munroe,
Um, you guys do know there's a spoiler button, right? ;) :D :P
And you know how to edit other people's posts ::) ;)
I had a phone call just as they were going to say which one of the boys was going through. Which one was it? I said earlier but you must have missed it Oo', that did you see that muppet yesterday serve up a half eaten carrot?the guy with the beard went through, though i think that either one would've gone through in any other heat, a shame they had to meet in the 1st round. the guy with the half eaten carrot yesterday, really shouldn't have turned up lol
@ JackFrost they killed Adam Munroe off pretty early in the series, i'm not trying to ruin other peepz watching pleasure, i like the show too much to ruin it for others :)
Antique roadshow
Bryan Fuller, the guy that created Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies is taking over as head writer at Heroes with episode #20....so that will be either really good or really bad for the showhe has been writing for heroes before he left for pushing daisies ..
Oh yeah forget Supernatural after it's break. Must go and see if the next episode is available. Whilst I love the show, these days it is more for the laughs it gives me rather than the suspense.
I kind of like the blonde girl's legs... but if you are talking of the bald, bearded guy? you could well be right.the blondie certainly had nice legs
I like Masterchef, but I am sick of the two judges when they're busy chosing their favourites. What a bunch of pompous asses that pair is.i agree with you about Greg and John. i watch it for the cooking, and to see the contestants develop the further they go in the competition
Same here, I always turn the sound down when they start their self important babbling. If I didn't I might be inclined to put my fist through the screen.
What annoys me most is that they obviously know who they want to progress beforehand, and they big up their food to justify them staying on,i'm not so sure about that, though i have no doubt that the filming is heavily edited before we see it
I bloody hate reality tv. Whoever invented it deserves a nice hot spot in hell.
^yeah those slugs were kinda disturbing, but a pharmacy close by is selling cuddly ebola -, e-coli -, ect viruses as stuffed animals, having that in mind i didn't mind so much ;)
Since i'm a junkie i like to watch whenever i can these one"s":
Kyle XY
Discover, was the the one after her abduction? I'm really enjoying the Fringe series a lot.yes it was, and glad to hear that you like fringe too ;)
Arent those GREAT!! My sister gave us each one for Christmas 2007. Excellent little toys.what did you do with it? i mean are they good for anything other than throwing them away immediately?
i had no idea that they were around for so long already, i just saw them for the first time 1 months ago. i can't understand why anybody would want to have an ebola virus as a stuffed animal, really beats me
this line from the show was priceless:never was the lack of ability on show better put than that. i laughed a lot
"at this point, if you can open a can you're through to the next round!"
How does it compare to the marginal Leverage?
I've watched all of the Leverage episodes. I thought the first one was pretty good. The following ones are decent too but it just seemed to lose something.
How does it compare to the marginal Leverage?
^did you ever watch dead like me? its made by the same guy who made pushing daisies, but dlm is much better imho
Im stuck on Battlestar Galactica.
And Doctor Who.
David Tenant is leaving the show this upcomming season during Planet Of The Dead.
He is only doing four episodes.
I really liked him
Well, I'm sad to admit that I didn't even begin watching Firefly until about 3-4 years after it was canceled. And it's a great fricken' show too.
A new weekly series called Leverage has been surprisingly enjoyable.
it's two more days until dollhouse premiers...
Burn Notice. Because Jeffrey Donovan is hot.
i've seen the first season of the the book group and loved it, can't wait for the second season. luckily a friend has it :)Michelle Gomez is fantastic in Green Wing. Maybe I'll watch The Book Group just for her :D
Michelle Gomez is fantastic in Green Wing. Maybe I'll watch The Book Group just for her :Dhehe, a friend just told me on monday that she was soo fantastic in the green wing. but i don't like hospital series except for the kingdom by lars von trier.
^did you ever watch dead like me? its made by the same guy who made pushing daisies, but dlm is much better imho
did you watch that rubbish of film?.
Randy? Dont you mean Princess Leia Organa of Alderon? You are confusing me....... :P
I watch it on the walkman when I am on the treadmill at work.
Bill Bailey is awesome :D
Might miss it because of Sabbath. :(
Another Diasfora peer has recommended "Shameless" to me. I've started watching it and if I didnt see the comedy label on the IMDB I might be alittle surprised. Very.....unique......and completely BBC. Of course if I knew James McAvoy was in it I would of watched it years ago!!! The Dad is just such a tosser (<- yep I used it in the right context and everything) he kinda makes me ill. I suppose that's the comic intention of his character. Off to finish season 1 then. One other thing-Im just realizing the value/purpose of "canned laughter" in US comedy shows. This has nothing but pure personal interuptation so if you find humor then laugh, you're not instructed when to laugh like on US shows.I downloaded Shameless for James McAvoy, but I didn't really 'get' the humour and I don't know anything about the UK working class, so it wasn't really for me :-\

well many people like it, but it's more cringe than comedy for meSeriously!!! But in my current state Im enjoying people with more pathetic lives than me ;D
i love damages, and started watching the dresden files today which isn't too bad eitherI told you about Damages!! It is AWESOME!!
This past season I was enjoying Dollhouse .. so glad they renewed it .. Joss Whedon's series seem to start out slow .. or complicated .. but just keep getting better .. I'm happy Fox decided to take the chance and bring it back .. I'm sure it will be better than last season ...
I've just discovered Dexter .. so I've downloaded the first 3 seasons and my son and I have been having a Dexter marathon .. 4 episodes a night ... well .. when it fits in with our schedules ..
Since we are finally starting the third season .. I've taken some notes from this thread and will try some of these shows .. thanks guys .. :)
cant figure out why Im not a Dexter fan? It has all the elements I like but I just didnt catch on. ???Neither can I. I kinda got bored?
I found Dollhouse took a few episodes to get attached to it .. in the beginning I just kept saying .. why and what?? He probably got to explaining all the circumstances around half way through the season .. once I understood more I couldn't wait for the next episode ..
Season premier of True Blood aired Sunday, who watched and what did you think?i'll watch it tonight or tomorrow, wanted to make sure that i won't have to wait for a full week to get more. looks like they strayed from the second, even more than they did during the first season.. did you get your hands on any of the books yet ??
A bit OT, but talking about books to movies, anyone looking forward to HP6?
It's actually the first HP movie I'm looking forward to :D
Probably because:
But if they put all the focus into the relationships between the trio, I'll be pissed off. I will also lose all hope for HP7.
I thought they were gonna start making 2 movies per book now.
i loved s1 of heroes sadly it went down the hill from s2 onward at least imho
I've been enjoying Royal Pains and Burn notice (although their seasons are ending now) and Psych just started up again. Also, there's about 5 eps of season 2 Leverage out right now.
The new series of Peep Show starts this friday on channel 4. I'll certainly be watching that.
do they air spirals in french with engl subs?
can't wait for dollhouse to start 8)
^^ Now i feel strangely compelled to start watching it :D it's only its second season, right?Third.
The season premiere of House was so-so...Ugh, not bothering with House now. It's getting so stewpid.
And I liked when The Daily Show came back and Jon came out in the fat suit pretending that he'd just let himself go over the 3-week hiatus the show came back from (the longest in its history):Did he wear it for the whole show? :D
Did he wear it for the whole show? :D
I might watch it if he wore it for the whole show, I've not watched it in over a year now.
Just finished the first episode of The Prisoner (original). Campy but good. Hmm mysterious. No spoilers please! Its a mind screw
Sons Of Anarchy.
I also like Stargate Universe
And who cares that her dad died?!! He was a big fat rich jerk anyway!
Never really liked that show,, I dont know,, I dont normaly like regular tv anyway.
Yeah,, like people that dont like Dr Who
And he was Shooter McGavin.
Who also played Stiflers father in the American Pie series of movies.
David Tenent was a good one
Breaking Bad
Never really liked that show,, I dont know,, I dont normaly like regular tv anyway.I saw the first two episodes of the first season, didn't really like it. You're not alone Robin.

Nah! Tom Baker was THE time lord. ;)
My favorite show at the moment is Dexter but tonight I've seen a show I didn't know existed: Head Case. I laughed so much I cried. And it's been a while I didn't cry laughing at a TV show. Have you seen it?i have not seen head case but I will check it out now , most the tv shows i watch now dont have much comedy in them
i have not seen head case but I will check it out now , most the tv shows i watch now dont have much comedy in them
Looks original. I'll try to check it out.
Sons Of Anarchy
I thought everything about it was worthless. EXCEPT: Katey Sagal. She is incredible in that role. Another case of different stroke for different folks.
Its a tribute to the large variety of writers and patrons out there. I wouldnt want it any other way. Sunny in Philadelphia, which I thought was utter crap, I ended up getting sucked into because of a few members continual praise of the show. I watch it now, every episode.
(checks),,,yep,,still Dr Whodavid tennant has just won an award for Dr who.
I like Burn Notice very much. :) I used to like Nip Tuck (the first seasons were truly good) but lately... :-\You're the second one to mention that. I started watching it this season so I don't know how 1-5 seasons were.
Wait! What? Are you saying that there is someone in this Universe who does not like Doctor Who?tbh i didn't like it -- i'm working on liking it but i'm not sure i'll succeed.
How is that possible?
wonders of the solar system
He's cool,he's the same age as me.
"Party Down"
Lets talk about "Party Down" comedy by the makers of Veronica Mars. Its aired on Starz. Might be because Im in the restaurant business but I think its pretty freakin funny. Not laugh out loud funny but gimme more funny. ;DI saw the first episode, and it was kinda meh :-\ I don't think I got the jokes.
So far this World Cup has been boredom cup.
I've recently gotten into Spartacus Blood And Sand.pretty sexy as well as i understand ;)
Gritty and realistic.
I've recently gotten into Spartacus Blood And Sand.Did you watch Rome?
Gritty and realistic.
at this moment in time its Deadliest Catch ;)
i'm kinda addicted to Big Brother UK at the moment
Oh my bless'ed God :o You need therapy.
at this moment in time its Deadliest Catch ;) I watched the pilot for Rookie Blue think I will follow this show two. Seems like a good show with some interesting characters....
Oh My...
i'm kinda addicted to Big Brother UK at the moment

I like that too.
Also Bear Grylls Born Survivor AKA in the US as Man vs Wild.
the closure
I can't find this show. :-\ Did you mean The Closer?yes i did :D
I still watch Survivorman sometimes..
I am rather fond of Family Guy, as it feeds my otherwise politically incorrect alter ego.
Just started watching Spartacus Blood And Sand.brutally sexy ;D
Le tour De France.love it ;D ;D and it only runs once a year
love it ;D ;D and it only runs once a yearEspecially now when they go to Pyrenees,it's worth of watching.
am i the only one who wants to see this guy come out? ;D

It's better than i anticipated.
Just started watching Spartacus Blood And Sand.Looks too much like a trashy version of Rome for me to even give it a try :-\
Looks too much like a trashy version of Rome for me to even give it a try :-\
the CGI looked pretty bad tbh.
What makes it worse (or even funny) is they slow it down Matrix-style.:o still doesn't sound good, probably worse :-\ whatever, i'm watching fringe now, it's kinda slow moving though...

Lie To Me.

It happens to every guyYah, but you do it so well. Men I mean.... :-\
I want to start watching that also.is it worth it?
is it worth it?
is it worth it?
Yes. :)
I love it. It's only a 3 episode series right now but I've heard it's been renewed for more.Pretty good. I like the modern take on Holmes and Watson.
england 1 switzerland 0
you gotta love european tv
atdhe.net
roony can bang them in from anywhere ;) :D
Maggie Q is damn hot in tight pants and with a gun. :o ;DIs she big in America now?
Hot, but can't really act :-\
I tried Castle, due to rave reviews from a co-worker, but its just not my style. Of course I didnt get beyond ep 7 so who knows. The humor is just not injected into the right areas for me. I could see how Nathan fans would enjoy it because his character is the same as everything else he's ever played.
terriers
I'm really liking "An Idiot Abroad".i watched the first show.
The premise is Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant send Karl Pilkington to a different foreign country each week to see each of the new seven wonders of the world, and to interact with locals, eat native food etc. Week 1 was China (Great Wall) and week 2 was India (Taj Mahal), next episode (week 3) will be in Jordan (Petra). Really funny show.

Pretty good. I like the modern take on Holmes and Watson.FI I didn't follow that. What do you mean by "tropes" the way they speak or the way certain nationalities are used over and over again for a stereotype?
But I thought Ep.2 was pretty stoopid. Yea, it's kinda annoying when being Chinese ruins all these eeevil yellow people tropes on tv.
The same way being German ruins Nazis-want-to-rule-the-world tropes and being Russian ruins I'm a big bad Russian tropes.
Has anyone seen the Banksy intro of last night's Simpsons episode? They have a new TV!? :o
I dont know if its a favorite but I watched the first in a series of 6 episodes of the Monty Python Documentary. Very cool to hear how these men were linked together and created the masterpiece that they did.
Lois: Brian, you have got to get Dylan under control. He's terrorizing the whole family.
Peter: Yeah, you wouldn't believe what he did to Meg yesterday. He made her watch the other 178 hours of Monty Python stuff that isn't funny or memorable.
[cutaway to Meg tied to a chair in the attic, sitting in front of a TV playing Monty Python]
Pythonesque Man on TV: I have a pet hedgehog named Zippy, and I shall walk her to town. And each time my foot hits the ground, I shall say "Boing! Boing! Boing!"
Meg: I'm a girl! I don't even like the good Monty Python sketches!
They have a new TV!? :ohee!
Let's be honest, most of MP was just plain wonderfully weird.
I must be getting old, as the only programme I watch religiously is the 10 O'Clock news (BBC of course).

Im sure you know that "main stream" doesnt really apply to most of us here right? ::)
When we were young we would be getting out of the car as a family and my Dad would yell "Silly Walk Day" and we would all do ridiculous things on our way into where ever we were going. Excellent memory!!
I like Python a lot. At the time though I preferred The Goodies.
it's weird, but excellent comedians like Spike & Peter Cook never got the international fame they deserved
The Walking Dead.
the way they introduced the new character last night was well doneShhhhhhh. I haven't seen it yet. ;)
Shhhhhhh. I haven't seen it yet. ;)
Other than the Office I can not think of a single US tv show remade from a UK show that is even worthy of airing. So is Shameless. This sucks so hard that I think the screen inverted in the tv. Just my opinion.
plus it so reminds me of family in Oxford :-\
you have an American version of shameless. ???
LOL ;D
My sister says The Event is the best lately. I haven't watched it. Has it been commented here before?
come fly with me by little britain cast. ;D
I've always liked Rufus Sewell as an actor
plus he's super hot
I just recently watched the first two episodes of "The Cape". It's starting rather slow and the "acting"...is a bit...um...weak? I might give it a couple more episodes (esp. since it's the winter scheduling break for most of my shows) but it better pick up or it'll be forgotten.

Don't forget the movie "Dark City". Classic cult film. Awesome.

Has anyone been watching BBC1's Silk?
It's starting to get a little annoying for me. I was sad when I heard it was canceled but now, too many new "things" are happening on each episode, like since they got canceled, they're just trying to shove as much as they can so they can still used the ending they had proposed for a 4 or 5 season series.Oh, I think I understand.
I'm also starting to warm up to "Outcasts". Is this a continuing series or one of BBC's infamous one season shows?
Have I mentioned Breakout Kings yet?
I've only watched a couple episodes but I liked them a lot.
Hot wheels: Battle force 5 FTW
This is me watching that: Brush your teeth! Put on your shoes! Or I'll turn the TV off! And then I proceed to brush my kid's teeth and put her shoes on while we watch Hot wheels: Battle force 5 EVERY MORNING. ;D
Game Of Thrones.
I've a friend who's reading that, he does not stop talking about it. It's apparently so good, it's diverting his attention from other things I'm not going to mention because it's personal.
I didn't want to watch the show until I'd read the books.
Spartacus , blood and sand , raunchy to say the least
I keep forgetting to partake in that debauchery. I guess I should start reading less, and watching tv more :P
I enjoyed the end of the Mentalist.
... I look forward to the explanation next season.
The Winx Club
I wouldn't really say favorite but I like "Wilfred" so far.Same here. I have seen the three episodes so far. I had a few laughs, but I found it to have some drama mixed between the jokes. Therefore, it is not an usual comedy.

It also has a strict storyline, unlike most of the comedies today.
This show definitely has a lot of potential. I expect great episodes from it.
As a song and dance man, maybe.
As a song and dance man, maybe.
Thats actually most of the fun. Seeing this flamboyant guy play a manly man. At least once an eps his true nature is seen.totally agree on both accounts.
Any fans of "Two and a Half Men"? Has anybody seen the last episode?
Walden: Trust me, money does not buy happiness.
Alan: I wouldn't know. I've never had either.
I was a bit disappointed but I'm sure it'll build up.
The old one was a lot of fun, there was a moral at the end of every story
... for the internet age:
I remember Cheetara used to come running whenever Lion-O used to shout "Thundercats Ho!". I thought that was a bit near the knuckle for a cartoon. :o
Oh come on, Cheetara definitely has a thing for Lion-O what with all the lingering gazes and whatnot, and I'm sure Tygra knows it and is in denial.
Duh.
On the internets!
Oh come on, Cheetara definitely has a thing for Lion-O what with all the lingering gazes and whatnot, and I'm sure Tygra knows it and is in denial.I kind of recall Cheetara being a bit dirty about grown up Lion-O, when she first sees him all grow'd up. I think she said he's well developed or something. It's a bit wrong though, he still had the mind of a child (unless I'm remembering wrong). I can't remember if he was meant to be an adolescent at the start, because then it's kinda awesome.
Don't you think that that a would be just a little ostentatious?

They were in suspended animation but his pod was defective so, while he was still asleep the whole time, his body grew. So yes, at the beginning, he was a 12-year-old in a man's (or whatever) body.
Nope, his got damaged. Remember the other kids? They didn't age any.
Maybe, but Lion-o's pod was damage or malfunctioned thus his aging was more drastic.
It makes less sense to me that the other kids didn't grow any. Hehe, I can't believe we've had this discussion this long over a 1985 cartoon. :D
Can you imagine the stink of his pod when it was opened? The age he was and a developing body...that's prime for nocturnal emissions.
Nope, his got damaged. Remember the other kids? They didn't age any.
I didn't read it in wiki or anything, that's just how I always remembered it. Huh, go figure.
Can I be the first to say that I don't care if Lion-O's capsule was damaged or not?
Rugby world cup ( until England win or are kicked out )
No. Its about CIA agent
Still loving The Mentalist.
big fan of Supernatural myself.
BBC1 on Sunday nights. Its so unAmerican. 3 episodes per season? I love it but thats painful
Benedict CumberbatchI saw him in Soho driving a fancy Jaguar very fast. It was a really nice car. I want one too :-[
There will be a third series. The talk about it being the last series was to try and preserve the mystique of the story.
Ahh, ok. Seems the US has a Sherlock in the works too...probably eff it up.
I am still trying to get my head around the U.S producing their own "Shameless". That is one show I thought was quintessentially English.
While waiting Dexter and Walking Dead,Top Gear Season 17 looks good.have you tried out Homeland?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1830617/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1830617/)
any body watched.I'm about to record and unsure if it's worth it.
although i wouldnt say a favourite
I'm quite enjoying Grimm at the moment as it is a straight combo of Supernatural and Fringe (2 shows that I already like and watch religiously).
My one reservation is that there is something very 'Bakula-esc' about David Giuntoli which is a little soppy.
Celebrity Juice
I'm really liking the new "American Horror Story" show, so far at least.
Watching Exorcist when I was 5 (not to mention Amityville, etc) kind of ruined me for that genre of film.
Just watched the Pilot 8)
I think I'll try a few more episodes ;)
Never been a horror buff. Watching Exorcist when I was 5 (not to mention Amityville, etc) kind of ruined me for that genre of film.twas 12 when i first watched :o scared me for years
It's really heavy Nobby, but really good too.
I don't watch a lot of TV but this series i have adored
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01dl8gl (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01dl8gl)
Plus it covers my favourite subject Bread ;D ;D
the way they are makes me shudder at times ;D ;D
Watched another 3 episodes [6 - 8] of
American Horror Story
Is the Daughter Mad ?!?!
Episodes 9 and 10 are going to make you realise what's going on there, and it does make good sense. I actually think it gets better although more horrific while at it.
Well the girl was Sort-of explained
Then the Dad flipped and then
Unflipped for no reason...
Some stuff just did not wash.
Was OK ---
But don't think I'll watch Season 2
I love Warehouse 13, as well as really enjoy Eureka (but again, I love W13). I feel like both shows got shafted by their production houses (or SyFy itself).are they cancelled?
Caught a bit of "Suits" a while back so I got me some copies and have been watching it. Through 2 episodes so far and I'm really liking it.
Fear Itself
Do not have ---
Prob... will not get
(limited selection)
Netflix in Latin America isn't good either.Interesting. I have gone back and forth with it. With my daughter off to college Im going to keep it for a few months so she can watch stuff at school.
They have full season and series of LOTS of tv shows. That really been the only thing Ive used it for.
I've heard a lot of good things about Grimm and I might check it out next "lull" in my shows (which might be a while since they're starting up again).
Have anyone watch elementary yet with lucy liu ?
Oh my gods!
http://www.fanfiction.net/Doctor_Who_and_Farscape_Crossovers/21/104/
I'll be in my bunk.
IMDb says the pilot's going be aired sep. 27/2012
ha. I actually googled dont that it was a new show ::);D That is funny.
This show ^ is funny.
Big Bang Theory is OK, but the laughtrack is so loud and overused I find it distracting. I think if they toned down the artificial laughter I could get into it a little more.
I'm desperately trying to catch up with Once Upon a Time, as Season 2 has started.
Not so worried about Grimm, to be honest.
Mentalist Season 5 is now available (although it only starts in UK in November), so I am trying to decide when to watch that, too.
Avoiding Glee Season 4. Like the plague. Glee Project amateurs ruined Season 3.
I due so watching. Oftenly.
I have a daughter, and watch(ed) it with her. It is not my natural sort of show.
I watch drama - notably cops (Lewis, Gently, New Tricks, that chap that polices the second world war, etc.)
I don't know if they broadcast that in the UK, but it's also on Fox.
smokester, you just need a holiday.
Being a tradesman, house-father, cook, webmaster and a host of other responsibilities is killing me.
We watch most of those BBC ITV police dramas, too. I am game for much more junk than my better half allows, but as we only really watch TV in the evening, unless I put on Jerry Springer or Judge Judy for background noise during the day, we limit our viewing of junk to Cops. I don't know if they broadcast that in the UK, but it's also on Fox.but i like Cops :'(
smokester, you just need a holiday. Your orthography will recover.
Don't you forget fashion consultant. ;)
I've watched the 1st episode of "Revolution" the other day. It really didn't fill my expectations UNTIL the very end. Then I thought I could give it another try. Has anybody seen further than that?
Just finished the first Case Histories season. Great show. We are waiting for the next season to air.

caught a few glimpses.
I've watched the 1st episode (2nd was aired last night I think?) and the best character is Captain Homer Jackson. There's something dark and hidden there. And Mr. Darcy is in the show! ;) That's a plus.
I think they are talking about this "Mr. Darcy" from Married with Children :P
Is he ? which Darcy are we talking about ?
O M G GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG... etc!!
The latest Fringe. My heart is bursting! What an incredible show.
I miss Black Books

BASTARDS!
Isn't it usual just to show 'unaired' episodes of a show online nowadays?
what is dark matters about? I saw that it was on before an idiot abroad re run but I just dismissed it.

Who's watching Dead Set? This puts Walking Dead TO SHAME!! Once I got over the nausea of it taking place on a soul ripping reality show I was hooked. Jackalope and I have been watching and say "thumbs up". Well...... he did. I didnt think I could get past the "Big Brother" scenario.
What about Utopia! WTH!?!?!?!? Im hooked on its freakish violence and story telling!
I think that you will find that Utopia has 6 episodes, not 6 seasons.
If we are talking about the same show.
And the new season of Black Mirror is equally marvelous. Loving every minute of it.
....Archie Bunker.
Just watched the season ender of Utopia. OMG!!!!!!! If this show isnt continued I will march on Parliament.
i miss misfits
male threesomes with an idiot as a mascot
I used to like the 6 nations rugby...ditto
This one stumped me. Top Gear US?
cough cough iso hun* has it ;)
Name him:
And he co-starred with WHICH of his True Blood actors?
I watched Homeland a few months ago and thought it was OK if only for the character Clair Danes plays. The show had a lot of implausible plot lines.
Recently I watched the Israeli original, Prisoners of War. It was so much better... Somewhere I read the comment that "Trauma Trumps Terrorism" and that pretty much encapsulates the difference between the two versions. The original had fully realized people, better dialogue, and no implausible situations. PoW explored the damage done to two human beings and the fallout that it creates. The really interesting thing about the American series and the Israeli is that the US version--which says a lot about our culture here in the US--was liberally (no pun intended) laced with sex and violence.
I don't think I'll be watching the new season of Homeland but I do plan on keeping an eye out for the second season of PoW.

I've been watching a lot of Biography Channel shows about murderers.you should meet my wife, she loves these programs and books
I've been watching a lot of Biography Channel shows about murderers.Same... and the Investigation Discovery channel, same genre.
I liked Dark Matters on the Science channel.
SACPOP, have I told you about Wilfred? The aussie show about the talking dog? It's pretty good, good enough for it to be picked-up in the US and Americanated. BUT, in contrast to every other aussie show that gets the doodle-dandy-do-over, it is still just as good.
Which brings me to my favourite show at the moment, Legit. It's like an aussie comedy but with american accents on everyone except the lead character. Dead funny.
Yo Bea!Yo yo, my brotha from anotha motha.
Yo yo, my brotha from anotha motha.
I just mentioned you, a couple times, in my own ways. It's great to see ya.
I liked the show "Total Wipeout" Hilarious.

Mad Men is very good. Smoking and anticipated problems with it are woven into the plot line, including Don Draper's full page ad about the danger's of smoking in one episode. Ad men had big accounts with the tobacco companies and they were so complicit in making smoking seem healthful, attractive, etc. My childhood was filled with tv ads of very entertaining smoking commercials. When I went to Brazil, after they had prohibited advertising cigarettes on tv in the U.S., the cigarette ads were so seductive with such beautiful people that it made me want to take up smoking.
You might enjoy the film, Thank you for smoking, about an ad man who pushes cigarettes with great enthusiasm.
How is "madam" a rude word? ....
That's not what it said when I read it.
how does one turn OFF word censor? I believe I have looked at the topic in HELP and it was not even CLOSE to helpful.
I found it but that doesn't show up for me.
Smokester I read the introductions. Couldn't find it cuz my screen shows up differently..

it's hannibal
i'm curious how i'll like it
Mads is an amazing actor, i'm not so interested in the story line though
....tonight i will be watching British Lions v Australia when the wife has gone work
I spent 34 hrs running around old Lang Park (it will never be suncorp stadium in my mind) setting up corporate displays for that game. Got picked up by the police for walking down the street after getting diner while the game was on (yay Queensland). I figure my work mate and I must have looked suspicious due to us not wearing any football attire.luck you or maybe not, get any souvenirs ?
Brisbane was a sea of red that night. 1 in 10 were wearing green and gold.....
luck you or maybe not, get any souvenirs ?
Just startingwent a long time ago, scenery and way of life is great.
"Rejseholdet" - Unit 1 (2000–2004).
So great looking at Mads and seeing beyond at life in Denmark. I know Ill never get to travel there but this is really cool. Show is "Meh" so far but Im only one the second eps and I just started drinking so reading subs is going to start boring me really soon. :o
I am trying hard to like Under the Dome.I would really like it to be inspired by The Simpsons Movie :D
I'm glad to see that some of you guys here also didn't get into hannibal. I know I really tried.I suppose it's fortunate I've not heard of it :D
I'm glad to see that some of you guys here also didn't get into hannibal.I love Mads and I think hes brilliant in the role but truly its a very boring show.
Orange is the new BlackWatched every episode out of..... I dont know...habit maybe. Its a new background story so Im enjoying seeing that develop but besides "crazy eyes" not impressed by any of the characters.
I am trying hard to like Under the Dome.2 episodes and Im out. Just alittle more with Walking Dead. Cant do it.
I recently watched all the eps of orange is new black and which one is crazy eyes ? Ive forgotten already?(http://www.trbimg.com/img-5208568e/turbine/la-la-et-uzo-aduba-02-c-jpg-20130811/600)
OK. Need reviews for:
Twenty Twelve
Big Train
Royale Family
They're both Scottish females
You need to read/ watch Stardust. It's on my list, I'll get to it eventually.
Is that classic evidence of sarcastiball?
Royale Family - As you might of guessed the incessent smoking is making me ill. Just cant stand to watch anymore. Its like I can smell everything in the house. Yuck!!::)
Anyone watched HelixI've tried the first two can't get into it
Anyone watched HelixIm with Maudibe, just cant get into it. Have tried though.
Right now Sherlock I love this take on himThere truly is not better show on television. Hurts SO bad that its only 3 eps per season.
Just started blacklist it really is a good showSpader has made it back!!! He is brilliant in this. Not really crazy about the female lead but the show is great.
Once Upon a Time.Have you tried Once Upon a Time in Wonderland?
... still.
Not yet, I am still ploughing through my OUAT backlog, but I will! (Is it any good?)I like it. It's more fantasy as takes place almost entirely in Wonderland
I'm enjoying True Detective.
Me too[/AOL]
That Matthew McConaughey gets everywhere :D
What is it about ? ^Apparently about a teenager with mental health issues trying to fit in, and it's set in the mid-90s. She likes the music the use a lot.

Has anybody seen the season finale of True Detective? I can't say my house looks like that. But the windows surely do. ;D
The second season of The Americans has finally started woo hoo. If you don't know it check it out. It's about KGB agents undercover in America during the cold war in the 80's. Awesome show.
Orphan Black I just started to watch this. it's damn cool
WatchingThat sounds interesting.
The Unnatural history of London
On BBC 3. Absolutely fantastic
theres something call the reign but I havent watched it.
I'd read somewhere that the actor who played the King was leaving the show, but he sure got to go out in a blaze of glory. He was so gifted at playing a deranged evil psychotic. You have to hand it to him. He really made my skin crawl.
anyone watching Hannibal ?
anyone watching Hannibal ?
I just found it far too removed from the writing of Thomas Harris.
anyone watching Hannibal ?
Was looking forward to Penny Dreadful.
Anyone watched Helix
Top of the Lake. Absolutely brilliant... hands down the best series I've watched in a long time.
Watched four hours yesterday and just wrapped up the last two.

Sean Pertwee takes a bit of getting used to though. He's rougher that I am.
I like him in that role. It's a different Alfred.
I don't remember Robin Lord Taylor in any other role but in this show he's amazing!
The only other thing I've seen Robin Lord Taylor in was the ADD guy in "Accepted". He's plays Penguin amazingly well.
True Detective
Season 1, episode 3 atm.
True Detective
??? havent seen any, has the USA just shown Ours or re done it ???
Yup. But don't let that enlightened attitude lead you to think that England is part of Europe!
Isn't that in Black & White?
We're just starting The Tomorrow People and so far, so good.
Justified
Heard so much chatter about it that I thought I'd give it a shot (no pun intended). Am glad I did. It's smart and funny with a great regular and floating cast.
In the last 2 weeks I've been galloping through it and am 5 episodes into Season 4 atm.
a) It takes a while to catch on.
b) Nathan grows on you...but his acting is pretty much the same throughout. I think he's channeling his trouble
c) Lol, I never even thought of the comparison (thank gawd) but you're right.
Car Share (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Kay%27s_Car_Share) is the best comedy show I've seen in years.talked about at work a lot.

Scoff at those lame sitcoms all you want
... If you want to start a new drinking game, you can take a swig every time someone gets offed on this show. That should have you under the table before the hour is up.
I feel sorry for the cast who are stuck on this train wreck of a show. If you want to start a new drinking game, you can take a swig every time someone gets offed on this show. That should have you under the table before the hour is up.
lol
Without "pulling a spoiler'' here, trust me... the finale is lame, contrived, and supposedly some sort of redemption for an unexamined life. I guess the coke train ran out of gas like it does on so many of these projects.
The Man in the High Castle
I'm watching it...but every time I see the chicken pox scar between her eyebrows it pulls me out of the story.
What? They don't (didn't?) have pox on Krypton?
Not until the Europeans arrived.
Glad to see Endeavour back, but hoping that it doesn't get sidetracked with all the masonic nonsense.well put,
Odd that the previous seasons of both Sherlock and Elementary finished with Sherlock (over)dosing.
Wasn't at all keen on the Christmas Sherlock. Didn't seem to have a point other than to demonstrate the writer's cleverness.
Glad to see Endeavour back, but hoping that it doesn't get sidetracked with all the masonic nonsense.
How in hell did Extant get renewed?
The Walking Dead. Read the comics too.
In a few weeks I've/we've watched the first 5 seasons of The Walking Dead.
What the golly took me so long - it's the nutz!!
I'm trying to like Colony. So far it's been kinda meh. I hope it picks up for the season finally next week.

Remember the six hour war in HL 2?
The Seven Hour War was a brief, but decisive confrontation between the Combine and the governments of Earth, ultimately leading to a large human death toll and the Combine occupation of the entire planet.
Overview
The war itself is never discussed directly in Half-Life 2, but it is mentioned briefly by Eli Vance in Black Mesa East — looking at a small cork-board featuring several annotated newspaper cutouts and images causes him to reminisce over the events during the war. In Episode Two, Eli states that if the super-portal matures "it'll be the Seven Hour War all over again... except this time we won't last seven minutes!"
After the war ended, the Resistance was formed to combat the new Combine leadership.
Just began watching Carshare as there was nothing else in the queue. Entertaining in a sweet quiet way. I'm halfway through the first season already.
Better Call Saul. Now in its second season.
He was in Sapphire and Steel, too. With Purdy.
Billions with Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis. It's really engaging. About Wall Street, insider trading and the efforts of the law to rein it in.looks interesting.
Watched the first episode of Mr Robot
and was not impressed ---
will not be wasting time on it again.
I admire your fortitude. I didn't get through the first episode.
Um, aren't head shots the only thing that work on zombies?
I started watching that and got tired of all the zombies getting their brains blown out. It was so frequent as to be oppressive. Like, ok, I get it. Enough. Shoot them somewhere else for a change.
I get the theoretical necessity, but not the need to visualize exploding heads, but then, again, I like Mr. Robot. Given, it's bleak and you sort of want to hit the protagonist in the face with a cream pie at times for being such a precious little twit, but what else is there to watch right now?
I need more, better tv.

Comparing 39 Steps versions: "More better".
Multiple filmed versions of "The 39 Steps". Richard Hannay played by: Robert Powell "Standard", Kenneth More "Better", and Robert Donat "Best".
Keep up at the back.
Always the best place to start.
I really like watching The Chase. Perhaps I've said that already?..excellent program and compare :)
I am loathed to say The Walking Dead even though it's been our #1 for a couple of years now. I just don't like season 7 that much.
Loving the 6 Nations rugby at the moment. Such an exhilarating sport to watch.:) :) me too.
Northern Exposure, one of many series I missed in my non-TV days ;D
Much as I hate to admit it, I am enjoying Lethal Weapon more than I really should. The "old man" role is wonderfully miscast, which adds to my enjoyment no end.
To be honest you only need the first one. I would suggest that instead of Lethal Weapon 2-12 (or whatever), watch "The Last Boy Scout" for a bit of Damon Wayans backstory.
I never really got BB. Probably because of the UK equivalent of:
Ha. I watched Sons of Anarchy and Breaking bad for the second time a few months back. I found they both held up well for a second viewing. We're loving Better Call Saul and Billions. I was wondering if there would be a further spinoff from Better Call Saul. Which character's backstory would be worth exploring next?
I watched Seasons 1 & 2 then the final episode. Worked for me, as I didn't have to put up with several years of Trubel, the whiny blonde or the irritating girl (retro-guessing based on the last episode). And Juliette, who for some reason had changed her name.
Preferred Buffy, to be honest.
Just finished OUAT. Loved it.
I just finished a slow binge (over 3 weeks or so) of Grimm. I enjoyed it but the last episode annoyed me a little (I won't give spoilers but I'm sure anyone else who has seen it would no why immediately).
It wraps up quite neatly at the end of Season 6.
There will be a Season 7 but there are essentially no Season 1-6 plot threads left unresolved, so it looks like they will be starting again (with a new cast).

I didn't bother with the books because he'll never finish the series, but I don't know if they've revealed his parentage or name there. I'm glad that shitty fanon got shot down though.
The guy who used to be on law and order ventilated him graphically, and it spun from there.
hap and Leonard season 2 was pretty good
Not quite. Still next week to gopleasantly surprised. Normally the run is roughly 4 episodes.
I really enjoyed Hap and Leonard. Read about it first on here. Glad to hear that Season 2 is out. I'm watching The Path, but my heart isn't reall y in it. It's a bunch of cult people. Hardly anyone to like, although Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad is one of the more sympathetic characters.
Re-Endeavour, the good news is at least there is another series coming next year,
But all in all a series I started out wanting to hate (As John Thaw`s depiction of Inspector Morse still remains for me the essential defining Morse) turned out to not only be enjoyable but to become in some small way a good explanatory prequel of how Morse evolved into the beloved curmudgeon we know...
The Orville
Did not think I was going to like it - but I do.
I'm not sure if the Rapture figures in many non-Americans lists of "things to watch TV shows about". It does seem to be a uniquely American diversion.
.... unless you dress it up as alien abduction, then we are all over it like white on rice.
How women are treated in Trump's third term.
Yup. That's what I was getting at.
I hear Westworld has seriously gone to poo with the whole "what year is it? We won't tell you!" Nonsense, so I've watched none of it.
Elementary is back, and I fear that it is in danger of disappearing up its own fundament.??? ???
Elementary is back, and I fear that it is in danger of disappearing up its own fundament.
Damn Right! Harry would have gone to the sun, drilled a hole in it (after AJ nearly messed it up) and set off a dozen Neutron bombs that would ensure that the sun would burn for another gazillion years, and the supermodel cops would have been redundundant.
Nope - it was written by an American woman (Deborah Harkness - All Souls World trilogy), and that seems to be how (some) Americans think that Brits should refer to it. According to my American daughter-in-law they are cracking books (but she liked A Wrinkle in Time, too, so what does she know). Looks like a Charlaine Harris rip-off to me.
I'm currently pining for Rubovia (http://www.turnipnet.com/whirligig/tv/children/other/rubovia.htm?fbclid=IwAR0npeKIsiCzoIexT7Ns85X5SXNx9s4d-i27yAqhY7Ghyn20eCbRA5TfEv4).
Then I can go back to reading Balzac and Herodotus.Balzac eh? lol When I was in college, there was this guy we called Balzac (for reasons I can't mention). Anyway, he thought we were calling him 'Ball Sack'. LMAO! Boy, that was a deep dig into the past. Not trying to lead on as if I was an avid Balzac reader, I remember it as 'required reading'.
My mom's 5'4, and she's gone into that small berserker mode. I've had to pick her up and put her inside a couple times, and BOY DOES SHE ENJOY THAT.
She was an important part of "Idle Hands".
I had to look that up. Touché.
oh poor starlight.
If you want to go PM, I'd like to know your thoughts on the end of that first episode, because YEAOWTCH.
I am glad I was able to get you over the hump. Still feel bad Nihilism is in the blood here. You will feel bad at the end of this. Yet it will feel, valuable?
Seriously, resistance movement, scientology, like does she not get it, either way?
They (Jaffa and Goa'uld) are basically just nasty Trill.

Lesson 2 - The Endinghttp://www.workableweb.com/_pages/tips_how_to_write_good.htm (http://www.workableweb.com/_pages/tips_how_to_write_good.htm)
All too often, the budding author finds that his tale has run its course and yet he sees no way to satisfactorily end it, or, in literary parlance, "wrap it up." Observe how easily I resolve this problem:
Suddenly, everyone was run over by a truck. -the end-
If the story happens to be set in England, use the same ending, slightly modified:
Suddenly, everyone was run over by a lorry. -the end-
If set in France:
Soudainement, tout le monde etait écrasé par un camion. -finis-
You'll be surprised at how many different settings and situations this ending applies to. For instance, if you were writing a story about ants, it would end "Suddenly, everyone was run over by a centipede." In fact, this is the only ending you ever need use.*
*Warning - if you are writing a story about trucks, do not have the trucks run over by a truck. Have the trucks run over by a mammoth truck.
I've never seen a rugby match, except on tv. It might be good to learn to play. It's like Ur Football, right?
The Naval Academy in Annapolis has a rugby team. They distributed bumper stickers that said, "it takes leather balls to play rugby" to advertise the team.
I've never seen a rugby match, except on tv. It might be good to learn to play. It's like Ur Football, right? To watch live is an experience, not always the game but the fan integration and friendly rivalry plus copious amounts of beer
I didn't realize that. When I last watched, Clarke was in a lesbian relationship with some woman that died, if I remember correctly, then she braved out the surface while people went back up into space. She had a shot or transfusion of some extraordinary woman's blood that made her immune from radiation. Good job and very suspenseful. Her mother was still around then. I think that show had 3 people over 30, the mother, her boyfriend, and another man of African descent, Thelonious (great name), who had been subjected to mind control of the evil robot woman (Alle?), but that was dispensed with a few seasons back, along with robot woman--you know, kind of like the bad angel on BSG who caused the big nuclear attack, she'd done the same thing here. Bad robot! Then he got right again and was good but I don't know if he's still around. I think there was radiation that made the surface uninhabitable again. Physics takes a back seat on this show.
Some of them, led by Bellamy's sister, went into a subterranean space for a few years. Clarke was with some young girl when the season started, and then there was more fighting underground and a big prison transport, that was never explained in any of the prior year's plots, came down out of the sky and Clarke was warily eyeing it from a distance. That's when I pulled the plug.
I tried Witcher, and nope.
I didn't even hit the annoying bit.
The swordplay is fantastic, I was very happy with the final killing sprint, but the stuff with Cintra bored the golly out of me. I understand Ciri is like the darling of the entire book and game series, but I never played Witcher. I didn't like her, I didn't like Cintra, and it felt like I was being dragged away from the show I wanted to watch whenever those naffs were on screen.
Now I hear the series is non chronological, and like, that's too clever. Like, Reservoir dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, I put it aside and just live with the mish-mashed sequence.
But a series? No, they win, they're too clever for me.
I didn't even bother with Westworld S2 after I heard how bent and clever it was.
Expanse just looked like the failed red faction pilot to me, paintballers with rayguns and 24 scary lady as grandma jack bauer. I suppose the whole "time is a flat circle" came around, since she's the one doing the torturing in expanse.
About Stargate Season 9...
Most* of Michael Crichton's books are.
*I say most, as I haven't read them all, but all of those that I have read.
There is always Columbo.
Unfortunately the sites I use are weirdly strict with the search function, I got no results. Might look for a site that caters specifically to bbc content.friend features in the BBC doc and he gets no answer from them
Have you considered contacting them?
I checked mv group and came up empty. They're particularly good for having documentaries and a whole section devoted to the BBC, so I was hopeful, but didn't find anything. That is the story my friend is after (see above)
If you go to BBC Archive, they seem to have Real Story with Fiona Bruce. I don't know how far back they go, though.
Have you considered shooting Fiona Bruce an email? She seems nice enough. Who knows? Maybe she can help?thought about it but cannot find her on twitter

Stumptown: despite the fact that it was obviously driven by a cultural box-ticker (omnipansexual girl lead? check. First Nation relatives? Check. Downs brother/ sidekick? check. Rainbow coloured cast? Check etc.) I am finding myself enjoying it. I like Maria Hill, so I may be biased.
Emergence: I'm struggling to see how it could be any more derivative (and I am having difficulty seeing the Kurgan as a sympathetic dad), but I am also enjoying this.
Sorry - misleading terminology. We have soap operas too (Coronation Street, Eastenders, Emmerdale ...) but they weren't what I meant. For example have "cop shows" that have no middle or end. In week one we are introduced to a cop (with certain obvious characteristics) and probably a sidekick (ditto) solve crimes. From then on there is no expectation of an end, just "monster of the week", week in and week out. Even the identity of the monster of the week is not suspenseful, because it is always the only other actor on this week's episode that you recognise. The only drama that occurs is when one of the leads changes due to an actor's death, retirement or firing. I guess this is "sitdram", where the situation is everything. (Also see "hospitals", "fire stations", "army barracks", "anywhere else where a small recognisable group of people gather together ...").
The difference that crossing the pond brings is the "overarching story line". In the US, the shows seem to add a background mystery/ drama/ point that overshadows the monster of the week aspect (will the fugitive ever find the one-armed man? will Bruce/ David Banner ever cure himself? will Jane find Red John? what caused the Heroes mutation? why/ how/ what/ who is Piper? will the Robinsons find the way home?) and it is the prolongation of this aspect that drives me nuts; particularly as in 90% of them the answer is "we don't know either" (Lost) or "you'll never know because we got cancelled" (Emergence).
Why it is particularly frustrating, is that I think that most of them had an ending in mind when they started; but the endings get lost in the desire to push for renewal (we have to have a cliffhanger to leave them wanting more ...) and then, eventually they get trampled under the red herrings forced by continual renewal (Lost, Heroes, X-files, House MD) or don't get resolved as renewal doesn't happen (Firefly, Emergence, Golden Years, a zillion others)
There are, of course, exceptions that break the rule in the US (Law and Order, Columbo, Hill Street Blues, ER, Chicago <anything>, are broadly framed in the same way as UK shows), but the UK never seem to do the "keep them confused and drag it out forever" version. Unless I am missing them due to my cultural blinkers.
I think in the UK, Jane would have found Red John at the end of season one. (... and yes, it would likely have been Jane). There may, then, have been "Return to the Mentalist" seasons, but each season would be a complete arc. (e.g. Life on Mars/ Ashes to Ashes).
Having black (gay, latino, differently-abled, trans, whatever) shows with black (...) casts doesn't help, obviously. "Separate but equal" was discredited as a doctrine decades ago. "People" aren't complaining about having a black "Friends equivalent", they are complaining about the lack of diversity on (what was) the most popular show on TV.
What "people" want is for the great unwashed masses to like diverse, representative drama that hits whatever buttons "people" currently want hit.
They don't want "unrepresentative", white, straight shows to be the most popular. They are upset that, given a choice, most people seem to want to watch white, straight, attractive people doing white, straight, attractive things. They are against "tokenism" - you can't just throw in a minority cast member to be second spear carrier, they want actual diversity (which, of course, is undefined). Colour-blindness doesn't help either, because all characters must show respect to their individual cultural heritage otherwise you have "Oreo" issues.
Unfortunately shows constructed entirely around what the audience are supposed to like, fail. And fail hard. Because unlike in Clockwork Orange, people largely watch what they want to. The distaff Ghostbusters was what the audience are supposed to like. They didn't. Who got the blame? The audience.
Advertising amuses me too: we aren't supposed to advertise using only young white attractive models, but things that are advertised using other variations lose sales (once the initial self-congratulatory press exposure subsides). Even fat people don't seem to like watching adverts full of fat people overspilling their clothes.
Sorry - If I had a blog you people wouldn't be subject to my dripping all over the place, but a disappearing blog wouldn't really work.
What we do in the shadows has already been renewed for season 3.Yes. Absolutely yes. I'm in love with all theee of them and I love the show. I've yet to watch the movie, I'm saving it, as I do.
Honestly, they don't even really need to come up with in depth plots, just the vampires stumbling through modern life is fantastic.
Nadja's disdain for the SUV was fantastic.
Oh my god, I went looking for a transcript to find out what she actually said about the "electric carriage shitbox" and got derailed by the fact they go to an... essential oils store.
Actually, pretty much everything Nadja says is great, "Professor pig richard" was a good one too.
I'm quite enjoying Animal Kingdom (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5574490/) although it's a bit of a challenge trying to accept Ellen Barkin's role, probably because I was never really a fan of hers.
I watched that. It's pretty good. Ellen Barkin is a good matriarch and rather sadistically corrupt.
It's a clip from what we do in the shadows.
Since you weren't aware of the TV series 6pair, just wanted you to know there is also a Snowpiercer movie with Chris Evans. It got mostly bad reviews (IIRC) but I really enjoyed it and recently re-watched it.I did also, intriguing film
Snowpiercer (2013)

I couldn't stand True Blood (amusing premise, dreadful characters), but I enjoyed the first season of Midnight, Texas.
Christmas horror stories benefit immensely from "sleigh" and "slay" being homophones.
It's odd but these days I don't care if everyone in a show dies. In fact, I more often prefer the antagonist to survive.
I think "The walking dead" did this to me.

Oh come on, The Mandolorian, of course.Whats that then
Whats that then
I have to say that I am a long-form storyteller's worst nightmare. I would likely enjoy the books, as book writers are generally better at engaging me than TV writers; I'll give them a try. The books are really quite good.
I don't have the time or the patience to discover that a TV series is brilliant after 15 hours of scene-setting and introduction.
I guess that's where we differ, as I have a high capacity for boredom.
I really struggled with an emergency call from a random guy being broadcast live to the whole station, for example, and that was an important plot point - or appeared to be.
I guess he had access to the space equivalent of Twitter?
... and I don't think that space stations would be dirty, grubby places where rags are worn, either: dirt has to be made/ imported, and I can't see that happening in space even though showmakers use it to add verisimilitude to the "downtrodden underclass".
These are miners, for the most part, busy hauling out rocks and other minerals and the water supply is short. In fact, there's one scene in which Miller takes advantage of Julie Mao's apartment's lavish water accessibility to take a shower.
Firefly/Serenity is Whedon, so don't watch it if you have issues with him! I think I'm basically unfamiliar enough not to have issues. Toy Story was cute. He might look better if he shaved. That's my take on him to date.
These are miners, for the most part, busy hauling out rocks and other minerals and the water supply is short. In fact, there's one scene in which Miller takes advantage of Julie Mao's apartment's lavish water accessibility to take a shower.
True, but they are miners in space: getting stuff from "space" into "habitation" involves rigorous cleaning and safety paranoia: no matter how blasé space miners get, they still have to be manically careful or they die. Lack of water doesn't make people dirty, dirt does.
Bathing is OK, once a year; over-washing is unhealthy.
You sound like Napoleon Bonaparte.
All you have to do is remember that you are watching fiction, with characters that share their names with some fairly well-known people.
I don't pretend to care about the Royals: I sort of understand they have a historical function like politicians do, but they don't bother me so I don't bother them.
The media make characters out of them, so that they can sell papers/ adverts/ themselves, and therefore they make readily identifiable caricatures: people to sympathise with (Lady Di & her boys), hissable villains (Meghan Markle, Charles), idiots (Andrew, Philip) dutiful old stalwarts (the Queen), gold diggers (Sarah Ferguson) etc.. Then they report whatever they want that plays to the caricature they have created. They have no fear of reply, as the answer to any rebuttal is "they would say that, wouldn't they?". The people that digest the media uncritically accept this as truth. Even those with some remaining critical faculties tend toward the "no smoke without fire" analysis.
Then the TV series is a serialisation of the back-story that the media have created for the fictional characters whose lives they document, and your summary is a pretty accurate version of that back-story. To the media everything is (or should be) a soap-opera. Think of it as "Keeping Up With The Windsors", or "Palace Shores".
Don't mistake this for anything approaching an accurate portrayal of the actual people, though.
The problem with the Royals is that we only have access to "fiction", none of us really knows anything about them; we only know what we are told by the media, and they are just as guilty of sensationalization as is Olivia Colman.
I'd say that our fictional views of the Royals say more about us as a culture than about the Royals themselves
I have never really understood the overseas vew of the Royal family as an outdated but quaint institution, when dynasties are all too prevalent everywhere (Trumps, Kennedies, etc., etc., etc.).
The difference on our side of the pond is that these families get "voted into office" while the Royals are born into it. That, odd religious aspect of their "power" is what we find a little bizarre. The Divine Right (Dieu et mon droit, and all that implies) of the Royals is a concept I find hard to wrap my brain around. It reminds me of shamans or some magical power that is bestowed by the deities of far away peoples. At least the Kennedys got their start as bootleggers who parlayed this fortune into the realm of politics and other "legitimate" arenas. The Trumps are another kettle of fish.
I may have mentioned it before, but I am all for 100% inheritance tax, in the hope of destroying all such dynasties.
There are two televised versions of the Stand. One was about 20 years ago and began well but soon lapsed into a snorefest.that i remember watching, after the last episode I was like "is that it" so disappointing (truthfully I say that about most of his book adaptations)
In the book the supernatural "good vs evil" aspect irritated me: I like King when he writes about people. The cause and effect of Captain Trips was much better than Mother Marigold and Randall Devil, Harold Lauder and Nadine Cross were much more terrifying bad guys for me. I haven't seen the TV series.
Salem's Lot, The Dead Zone
I'm watching Your Honor and is it me or is he Victor Meldrew?
I watched a little bit of that a few weeks back. It looked like things were not going well for the judge's son. I didn't get too far because it was so bleak and sad at the beginning. Bryan Cranston is the judge -- I don't think he looks like Victor Meldrew, who was also killed by a hit and run driver! What a coincidence. Cranston was in Malcolm in the Middle and Breaking Bad. Now that's a range of characters for you.
Let us know if you like it.
Started watching Mare of East Town. One episode in it looks like a remake of Emergence (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergence_(TV_series)) but with her from Titanic as the cop. I'm willing to bet that it will be "grittier" and less sci-fi, but I'll stick with it for another episode or two - mostly because I quite liked Emergence.
I'm mostly immune to faux accents. Comes from years of living in the US, where all accents sound false to my tin ear. (It is difficult for a Brit to believe that a Texan isn't deliberately making up that drawl on the fly.) (... and what is it with Bostonians?) (In Alabama most vowels are comprised of three syllables)
I've seen the advertising previews of that show and I'm not convinced by her American accent. It sounds too deliberate. I think it would just get on my nerves after a while.
Events are either acted on stage, or reported.
The mind is stirred less vividly by what’s heard
Than by what the eyes reliably report, all that
The spectator sees for himself. But don’t reveal
On stage what should be hidden, keep things from sight
That eloquence can soon relate to us directly:
Folk shouldn’t see Medea slaughter her children,
Impious Atreus mustn’t openly cook human flesh,
Nor Procne turn into a bird, or Cadmus a snake.
Any such scenes you show me, I disbelieve, and hate.
Watching Banking District ao Horace's Ars Poetica (15 BCE).
This, Line of Duty, is filled with Medea slaughtering her sons on stage. It just fills me with resentment.
I've not seen this Line of Duty, but I absolutely agree to the extent of pushing the envelope beyond my respect.
There are other instances I've considered this topic and came to similar sympathies, I've none.
Mare of Easttown was good. I hope that they leave it at one series/ season.
For All Mankind was good too. Enjoyed the second series as much (if not more) than the first
The genesis of "Allo, Allo" sort of explains this. It started life as a spoof of a serious drama (Secret Army), and each of the characters in Allo, Allo is a direct parody of the corresponding character in Secret Army. (Secret Army was in its own right a decent show). Because Allo, Allo was funny and popular it got dragged out into umpteen series, and had to get more and more exaggerated to keep the "laughs" going. Thanks, chris. We had no idea. Maybe we should check out Secret Army. I know little of the French Resistance and the period of occupation, but the French Village gives a reasonable idea. It seems to go on for several seasons. SA is available for streaming on dailymotion, at least for now.
LimeTown. Reminiscent of a feminist X-Files so far.Friend told me about this series and recommended me to watch as a great plot yesterday
SS-GB, the Nazis take over Great Britain in WW2. Big detective (Archer of Scotland Yard) engages in strife between Germans and the Resistance. It's well acted and the writing is good. We keep falling asleep while it's on because it's dark and quiet.
Near the end of Season 1 of For all Mankind. It's like a soap opera in space. Lots of drama, most of it interpersonal.
We're doing the Loki thing as well and Shadow and Bone.
I loved the Loki series but I'm biased as I'm a Marvel and Loki fan-boy. That said, I still think it was well worth the watch.
Got to Shadow and Bone a few months back and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Those types of stories and genres are right in my wheelhouse.
Fringe has just started from the beginning on one of the obscure cable channels, so I have been watching the first season. Quite enjoying it so far.
Brokenwood Mysteries. New Zealand version of Midsomer Murders, but all in one town rather than all over the country, so the same non-playing characters turn up every week too. Gentle fun.
I'm watching, against my better judgment, The Wheel of Time. It's pretty kitschy.
Boar faced monsters dressed like heavy metal musicians check
Mysterious beautiful powerful sorceress check
Good looking multiethnic young aspirants check
Noble healing cult of women check
Evil glow in the dark eyed menacing villains check
Noble middle aged male characters check
Villages filled with light hearted people having festivals interrupted by monster invasions? Check
I'm still intrigued by the question of this one cult of people who wear really perfect white clothes that never seem to get dirty. How do they manage that?
And I've already run out of episodes after 3. They come out once a week. Remember that? Just like real tv used to be. On amazon prime no less.
Eh?I have read most of the books in the series
I am not sure I'm up for such a commitment as to read all of the Wheel of Time series. I have heard mixed reviews of the books. On the other hand, I inhaled the George RR Martin books.
....so he was never in the Kingsman series of films at all?...
When I was a child, I had a favorite toy called Wooly Willy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wooly_Willy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wooly_Willy)
I'd love to have a similar photoshop type app to go to work on those two, since I think the structural differences of their faces would be more pronounced without the humdrum 00's de rigueur shaved heads for men with male pattern baldness. If anyone here with more advanced photoshop skills wants to take a crack at it, I'd be highly amused and grateful.
That may be true but I, quite seriously, watched all of the available Kingsman movies and always presumed it was Stanley Tucci starring in them. All the family did to be honest. I didn't really know of Mark Strong to begin with so I had no reason to question myself. It was only when I couldn't see Stanley Tucci in the credits of Temple that it got me thinking.
Any sign of Charlton Heston & Sophia Loren?

Grandson has discovered Fuller House. Gender-swapped Full House with the same people (who have now grown up). Except the Olsen twins who aren't as cute anymore. Same jokes as thirty years ago.
The Olsen twins are the only original cast members that didn't come back to reprise their role.
Ten
Wholesome and lame pretty much sums it up.
The original series was aimed pretty squarely at my daughter's demographic, so I guess it isn't a surprise that she & her son found the new show. I am just thankful that they have not (so far) re-discovered "Saved By The Bell".
Black Summer is my most favourite zombie show of all time, and by a country mile. I'd just like longer episodes and more of them.
Odd to hear of anything even half decent coming from Asylum. Does it cross over with Sharknado?
.... she hates Zombie prog/movies as scare her to death ....
Finished Fringe. I quite enjoyed it. Very little made any sense, and hopeless if you get hung up on plot holes, but great for watching actors playing several parts very well.
Anywhere in particular?
Discussing circumvention of advertisements may not be illegal yet, but it is frowned upon.
...Just a general statement.
Quite enjoying the nostalgia of CSI Vegas.
My weariness with parts of it is tied to a more general weariness with media conglomerates endlessly flogging their profitable intellectual property. (Marvel’s “She-Hulk” premiered Thursday; “Lord of the Rings” and “Andor,” the latest “Star Wars” series, arrive next month.) It can all feel like a streaming content pharma ad: “Do you recognize the elements of thrilling drama but still feel malaise while watching it? You may be suffering from franchise fatigue …”
The problem is the Matt Smith Character is vitally important, but Matt Smith was bad stunt casting.
Kind of have to strongly disagree on the Daenerys lite comment though, Daenerys the dreamer, AKA, Daenerys 1.0 saw that everybody in valyria was going to die horribly.
So she convinced the targs to set sail, and the entire saga kicked off.
Daenarys Targaryen, daughter of Aerys II, may has well have been her brother. All that struggle, and then her brain got bent by stupid.
I'm shocked Rob Zombie didn't get him for Herman, all they would need is the platform shoes and a light dusting of green.
Oddly when I was a kid The Munsters was on UK TV, but The Addams Family wasn't, so when I came across the Addams I assumed that they were a knock-off of the Munsters.
I seem to recall that we also had "Car 54 Where Are You" and "F Troop", now that I have engaged long term memory. Along with Champion the Wonder Horse, Belle and Sebastian, The Flashing Blade and The White Horses.
Attempting House of Dragons HBO series. Watched 2 episodes and tbh not feeling it yet.
I like Picard being Picard. I don't really care about the story. I quite enjoyed the first season, to be honest, although I can't help but wonder how they are going to keep the franchise going when all the actors that they rely on are too old to play their parts.
I have to say that if I were invited in Star Trek as a shining vision of a hopeful future, then everything post-Gene Roddenbury (starting with DS9, I guess) would not inspire me. It does appear that most recent show runners are more interested in the decay of the future rather than the hope of same. Please note: I haven't seen the majority of Enterprise (boy, was Sam out of his depth in that one. Side note - as a non-US citizen, I really don't want a vision of the future in which the US are the dominant race, and all other nations are subservient - I can accept the concept of a global government, but not of a US government that allows foreigners to play bit parts), Discovery, Below Decks, or any other recent Trek other than Picard.
In Star Trek, TNG, DS9 and Voyager, they were set in "The Future", and the earthlings were fairly homogeneous earthlings of various flavours: I'm not aware that there was much concentration on their countries of origin (other then the Davy Jones lookalike with the silly accent). On Enterprise, which is set less far in the future, gratingly one of the characters is an American flyboy (Trip? Chip? something like that), and his homeboy persona was deliberately parked front and centre. I'm possibly too xenophobic, but that made the show unwatchable for me.
Was Chekov American?
Still can't get enough of TWD.
I may even rewatch it even though I vow never to do that with any show that doessn't contain the words "Star Trek".
Doent it just repeat the storyline ??
Been going a long time now
It's "I'm a celebrity" time so the missus has control of the remote.Have never watched, but as per your post.
Gah.
Still can't get enough of TWD.I’ve actually finally completed TWD. I can say, I enjoyed it enough. I enjoyed the first 8 seasons way more. I’ll watch it again eventually after I watch some walking dead universe 2023 stuff coming up.
I may even rewatch it even though I vow never to do that with any show that doessn't contain the words "Star Trek".
Got round to watching the first episode of Cunk on Earth. Damned near wet myself!
... or me and Brad Pitt.
Ahem
We have actually just finished "Servant" made by apple TV and I happen to be one of the rare people who actually like Shyamalan. However, try as I might, I have no idea what exactly went on after we watched the last episode of the first series. I honestly don't have a scooby.
Maybe I should watch the other seasons.
Started watching Britannia on Amazon Prime.
Celts (Druids, Cantii, etc.) to Romans: stay home. Go back.
Romans to locals: get bit.
Very stabby so far with random incantations and lots of chalk covered faces. Remarkable cast including David Morrissey, Julian Rhind-Tutt and Zoe Wanamaker (We love you, Zoe Wanamaker!) among others. It's hard to think this could suck with such a cast, but what do I know after one episode?
Anybody else seen this? Have an opinion?
BTW: Suburra was a right downer. Who'd a thunk it with such life affirming groups involved?
I am reading Beowulf
Bleak is my middle name. Actually, bleak would probably be several of my middle names if I had any.
I refuse to watch Mr Night <whatever> any more, as after I See Dead People I tried several of his, and they all seem to be seeking the same thing, to recapture a once-in-a-lifetime twist.
Lisey's Story is Stephen King, and he does bleak better than most, to be fair. Again, not for me. I quite enjoy (most of) his books, but have never enjoyed his movies/ TV shows. (I prefer to skip the graphic bits that he indulges himself in, which is easy in a book, but not so much on the telly. Even his family-friendly stuff like the prison ones have really really unpleasant bits in, for no apparent reason.).
On Apple TV I have only watched Ted Lasso (season one. Giles makes a great baddie) and For All Mankind (seasons one and two, and I will get around to three). I tried Schmigadoon, but gave up half way through episode one, and something about a computer game company (less than five minutes). I really want to watch Foundation, but I can't start watching that until I am sure that they are going to finish it: it would be a crying shame to enjoy it but have it never finish.
Started watching Barry as the episodes are short and it looked a laugh.
7 episodes in and I'm not laughing much any more. It got dark and the only funny thing left is the Fonz.
I like it, though.
Because Morse hadn't.9 seasons of if ???
That's the downside of having a twenty-five year old wife.;D ;D ;D ;D I wish NOT 8).
So Glastonbury has finished. Some highs. Wife wants to go next year ???
You must have looked sorely out of place in a dinner jacket. And the dry cleaning bill must have been horrendous.
I've been to Glastonbury once, while the concert wasn't on.
I finished the second season of Baptiste last night and I thought the show ended as it should have.
For me, I found Julien Baptiste's character was so well written I could swear I've met him in real life. That's the feeling I came away with.
And one more thing. I know that it's almost required that men wear beards now, but some of them would be better off skipping this obligatory fashion trend, and John Krasinski is among them. My advice? Try a trip to the barber. It would do you both a world of good.
The best part ref Jack is the fact he did become president in the books.
Finished watching Silo, predictable ending nope.

Rugby world cup coming up :-\
I'm in Paris from the 8th until the 12th. It's a present for TNG's 21st a couple of weeks back and we are going to 3 race meetings over 3 days. I hadn't realised that the time we land is the exact time that France play in the Stade de France. God knows what the traffic is going to be like?!
Stationary.
Stationary.
I'm still amazed that they have such clean clothes.
I am trying to make time for this, as I read all four hundred and thirty seven books, but I am slightly concerned that at the rate they are going if they film the whole saga, the pretty young actors will be in their late nineties - at least - by the time it finishes.
Yes, but with Wheel of Time he/ they actually wrote seven hundred and fifty six books. There were so many that when the original author died, he posthumously hired someone else to keep writing away. Like ASOIAF but with an eventual ending. It may be that WoT was published in 20 books, but each of them was ten times the size of a real book.
Finished Walking Dead - Dead City nothing new.
Just finished the 3rd season of Warrior and I'm pretty sure that, season on season, it's steadily becoming less entertaining. It's hard to tell when a fifth of each episode is reserved for kung-fu.
Kung-fu is always entertaining ... Grasshopper.
I never watched the Buffy musical episode. It's indulgent. And not in a good way.
Honestly, it's surprising Star Trek managed to avoid such a premise for so long. The early 2000's star wars were all about the unlikable center of the universe, going around like a human trash can, scowling at everything.
The duty of the writers and producers is to make us like the protaganist, and give a poo about the things they are doing. No matter how Strong and Brave they may be, if they're a joker, they're a joker. And if I want to see that, I'll take another job at a supermarket and look to my manager.
The Jewish stereotypes drove me out of that series before the end of episode 1.
Were you ok with the gay stereotypes, airhead stereotypes, small town stereotypes etc. etc.?
Personally, I think the show is incredibly well crafted as the changes in family's attitude to life and one another are very subtle and gradual. It's only further down the line you witness how much of a "family" they've become.
Shantaram - Indian life everywhere basically, but interesting.
Did you spot Bashir?
No ???
We are watching the SkyTv production of "Gangs of London."
Summary: Mean people are mean to each other and there's lots of blood. I can't imagine this will end well. And there's one man who seems decent, an undercover cop who is a skilled warrior. Will he make it out of this mess? Stay tuned.
10 episodes and we just finished #4.

Not a lot of cruelty in Doc Martin, true.
Murdoch Mysteries is back for its umpteenth season. Constable George Crabtree was promoted at the end of the last season to Inter Inspector, and I a really neat touch demonstrated the esteem in which he is held by his peers:
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/jl5kbaq9rpexnt4klmt0e/Carbtree.png?rlkey=5g6u74ivzoxz81cvtvgzh8epr&raw=1
I wasn't sure when I first saw it if it was a clever hint or a stupid misprint by the set-dressers but he referred to it, making it obviously deliberate (and so subtle that it had to be pointed out)
Banana is a herb.
Durn. I accede to such an authoritative source.
Indeed. I remember it from my youth, so it is definitely ancient.
I enjoyed the book when I was younger, but I can't be doing with this new-fangled bowing at the altar of multi-culture. All of the pre-match publicity about how the new version is less euro-centric - and less "white hero" - rather disturbs me, as the whole point of the story (and the actual historical events) was that the white guy made a huge impact on the locals. If they had wanted to make a story about Japanese history, then they should have chosen a different book to adapt.
... but I haven't watched - and likely won't watch - the new version, so I may be completely wrong.
I'm finding Fallout a gas.never played nor heard of until the TV series came out.
I went back to Fallout and found that it has Walton Goggins, who is really pretty fun. I knew him from Justified and Sons of Anarchy, where he plays a transvestite. He's got a reasonable range as an actor and has serious charm despite being a ghoul. Once I got past the violent opening, it sort of settled down a bit and while it continues to be outlandish (literally) it's entertaining.
Unlike many, I really enjoyed the ending. I thought it was quite intelligent and thought provoking.
It's a shame a second series is at least 18 months off.
I really want to watch the second season of The Wheel Of Time, but I can't remember what the hell happened in the first.
Resigned myself to re-watching a few episodes from the first, but as I had little recollection of events after episode 1, I'll have to wade through it all again. And I leave for the Caribbean on Thursday where I wanted to watch the next season.
It is a very good show, so I'm not that hard done by.

PS - I never thought about the race of the protagonists or antagonists once when reading the book (except when it was waved in your face like Loial), but they come from a "world" where there are many, many tribes that get all jumbled up together: I think that gives the TV producers the right to cast as many different races as they can find (including orcs, ogres, gnomes, dwarfs and hobgoblins. And welshmen.) The racial heritage of the lead character is an important plot point though, and is remarked upon regularly and often.
Goldshirt, that's exactly how you're supposed to feel about Jack Ryan. He's a professor forced into a world of intrigue. Unfortunately, the show mostly forces him into a Jason Bourne archetype, which is incorrect for the character.Im not sure The actor pulls it off TBH.
Over decades of trauma, Jack Ryan becomes a hard, cold operative. And he STILL gets shocked by the brutality of the system. Ford did a great job displaying that in the movies, when everyone is cheering the raid of a terrorist training camp like a video game, he is appalled.
One of my favorite Jack Ryan scenes comes from another Ryan, Alec Baldwin. As an academic, Baldwin Ryan has done the research and presented the best possible analysis of Halsey. Connery Ramius is a man who has walked the walk rather than talk the talk but is also a highly educated man. He tells Ryan that Halsey was a fool.
It's a fantastic nerdy scene in the middle of an action thriller.
(Also, Ramius kills political officer Putin in the opening segment of the film.)
I don't have paramount positive, so I just watched the first episode of lower decks. It made me incredibly sad.
There are extremely talented people who love star trek, and instead we got DIS. Lower decks packed more in half hour than they did in a series.
Also the new season of what my husband calls "Tick and Whale" (All Creatures Great and Small) came on last night. You kind of need insulin handy to get through it but for what it is, it's decent.
Compo is something of a role model for me.
I never plan what I want to watch. I turn on the TV, and scroll through the channels until I see something I fancy, then watch it. SWMBO has appointment TV (the latest cop show, a mini-series drama etc.) On olde worlde TV scrolling has five channels, and even on cable there is only about a hundred things on at any given time, and 96 of those can be immediately ruled out, so scrolling and choosing works (or leads to me turning the TV off)
I understand streaming, and the appeal of it, and I have subscribed to all of these things so that I can stream if I want to, but I just can't do streaming at all: I turn on the Apple TV, choose one of Apple+, Netflix, Prime, Disney+, etc., etc., etc. and scroll - three hours later I am still scrolling (you know that old joke about women going through the warehouse looking for the perfect man that end up on the roof? That's me - I won't watch that because something better may be on ...)
There's no "verges on" about it. The Murdoch, Maxwell and Morgan led gutter press were/ are indisputably criminal.
... and criminality apart, I have never understood why we allow - nay encourage - press intrusiveness with the faux justification of "public interest", when what they mean is to make a buck out of salaciously appealing to the interests of certain parts of the public. Shoving a camera through someone's window or up their nose should be an offence, not encouraged by the courts."WE" don't just allow. It became the norm as per lots of things in society that was forced upon us and were told it was better by most major corporations (supermarkets and plastic, bulk buy etc etc).
Rufus Sewell was a truly hissable baddie in A Knight's Tale (you might not have seen it - it is a docudrama about the Middle Ages in England)
(It was also a high point in Heath Ledger's career)
I'm told that the books are much better.
... especially when the main character is the heroine.
