I do find it amusing that subway's marketing is now "We're not garbage!"
So much for "eat fresh" eh?
Today I blew my caloric intake severely, I got the Carl's Jr Beyond Famous Star, and a Big Hamburger.
I figured the big hamburger was just marketing, but it was in fact, very large. I should have asked for a kids meal hamburger. instead.
The Beyond famous star was intriguing. I specifically made this order because I heard the Beyond company is circling the drain and may not be long for this world.
The burger was certainly more expensive than a regular burger, and visibly, you can tell it's not real meat. Texturally and taste wise? I couldn't tell the difference.
With the Impossible whopper, you know that you're eating soy. The burger is savory, and goes a good way towards tasting like meat, but doesn't quite pull it off. Beyond does.
I don't think I'd like to make it a regular part of my diet though. It's definitely a stunt burger.
The big hamburger was five dollars, the Beyond famous star was eight dollars, twenty cents. I don't like breaking double digits for a lunch, but I figure I'll skip dinner tonight.
Both burgers had the usual accruements, pickle slices, onion slices. The Beyond burger had a leaf of iceberg, but that's not anything to write home about. The onions are fresh as opposed to dehydrated, so that was nice.
So as a stunt, I'd say the beyond burger fits the bill, but for a regular lunch option, too rich for my blood.
