As someone who grew up idolising Muhammad Ali, I am truly saddened by his passing. He will be missed.
Whether he know it or not, it was his charm and unquestionable talent that began to break down the colour prejudice in sport, here at least. Week in week out the racial chants at football matches diminished as Cassius Clay became a household name. Even the leader of West Ham's ICF was nicknamed Cass as he was such a good fighter and also black, a name that commanded respect and transcended colour.
