Topic: scam hijack pages

Been a while since I hit one of these. Essentially, you go looking for something online, and the page goes fullscreen and attempts to keep you from closing the tab, often with discomforting audio. In my case I was looking for a speaker teardown manual, and it hit pretty hard. Obvious scam, but it told me it was going to "disable" my computer to protect their network.

I honestly haven't seen poo like this since around 2006, and I'm surprised current browsers still allow that level of hostility from a site.

That's annoying.  I haven't had one for a while.  They used to be so aggressive that I'd have to turn off wifi, clear the browser cache and relaunch the browser to get them to go away.

My junk mail has been pretty boring lately, also.

This is not so much about scam hijack pages as Facebook bots.  I ran into this profile of some "guy" asking one of my friends to friend him. 

Here's the text of his request and a link to his FB page.

His FB profile page is pretty amazing as it contains posts like this one.

"They examine patients, diagnose and treat diseases, provide medication, and perform surgery." followed by two photos:  One of him holding a pitcher of beet juice next to another photo of him pointing to a handful of carrots.  It's simply bizarre.  I love that he was trained at the Virginia Commonwealth School of Dentistry and works as an orthopaedic surgeon.  There's nice photos of him performing abdominal surgery on patients.  Just what you'd want -- have a serious internal injury?  Call a dentist!

She has lots of other similar requests, all from men.  This is the mother of a friend of mine, a retired nurse, and I wonder if she's targeted because all her posts are public?
