hmed2390 - i want to listen to some middle east music.
any recommendations
Hmm,that's a good question goldshirt, I'll have to ask my cousins and get back to you on that, I'm not a huge listener of Egyptian music, but I'll definitely get back to you later on.
I do have some really classic egyptian music like Um Kulthum and Abdel Halim Hafiz but it all depends on whether that's the kind of thing you're looking for. If you want more pop-orientated and modern music there's singers like Nancy Ajram(she's lebanese but sings in an egyptian-arabic dialect as do most modern arab singers) among others, again, its all a matter of what you're looking for, but please feel free to get back to me on the specifics and in the meantime I'll collect some names and possibly files so I can send them to you.
Edit:
Also, what's the genre that you're interested on hearing? Ahmed Mekki is an egyptian actor/rapper that's usually raps in his movies but a lot of his music videos are hilarious(lots of time void of cultural humor so that others may understand it), and he's very satrical in his music which makes him especially awesome(for me at least hah).
My apologies, I'm typing this from my phone so it's a little hard to amass some of my collection here for you to see but I'll definitely send you some samples when I get home.
