It seems okay now, so I can only assume that either I broke my cookie (that'll learn me not to dunk it in hot tea), or I inadvertently clicked the "mark all as read" button.

The latter has happened before.

Hehe, I was on a counter-strike (game) forum once and the favorite pasttime was to trick people into clicking ninja'd-links to goatse or to the logout link.

Site is realllly slow for me right now right now. I click, then wait ~20-30 seconds, then page loads.

There was a server upgrade happening over the last couple of days.  That's just finished so I'd assume it's bedding in.

Actually, I just witnessed it and tried another site on the server while it was slow.  That too had a loading delay so there may be an issue with the upgrade.

I'll try and keep an eye on the server load etc.

couldn't connect for about 20 mins maybe ( didn't keep count)  the message was it could not connect to server or server was not responding

I was trying to keep an eye on things while I was away but the wifi was so temperamental that if I got an error, I couldn't tell whether it was site-side or my connection. It appears it may have been a bit of both.

I'll have a snoop around and see if something is borked.
