I've had Gnome 3 on for a few weeks now.  I've found this blog to be helpful.  http://www.webupd8.org/

I did install all the gnome-shell-extensions (after adding the webupd8 ppa repository) and found that the gnome-shell-extensions-system-monitor would peg my cpu at 100% after an hour or so and I would have to restart Gnome so I've disabled it now.

 ::) nice web site , use quite a lot  :D
had to install advanced setting tweak about 5 times till it installed correctly  :o
changed the theme but had to stop the file manager handling the desktop option , as the top panel showed all the old
 ' file / edit / bookmark ' settings
and as yet this is the easiest way to hide them i have found. :)
still unsure if i like this option or unity best.

i still think Ubuntu has made a big mistake in their choice of the lack of desktop alteration.

I'm going to dinner with 81/2 Italians, 1 Pole, and a little girl whom is Italian/Polish.

We are all going to eat here and considering there are 2 head chefs in our group, I hope the food is as good as it usually is.

It was excellent actually; about as near to a Napolitan pizza as is possible outside Napoli.  I really want to go there every night truth be told, but I'd better hang on to my cash for at least a week - which would be a record for me.
