wondering if i can fit another hdd in my desktop  ???
already have 1 sat as the main hdd,
i pata as a saving hdd
but i need another sata but have no room in the case. :-\
i could remove a dvd rom and rest it there i suppose

Get an hdd dock.  That way, you can easily swap in and out hdds as needed.

what are the connection speeds like on an external usb drive.

i assume you mead the free standing ones so i could change at will i.e

^I've never had trouble with speed or connection or difficulty of use, hopefully you won't either. I like the idea of an external hdd lots.
