It is not compulsory to add a wikipedia link to your update, but if you choose to then you'll see the "URL" tag in editing mode.

Everything is cool with me and Wiki now. 

You only need to join once and your are a member of all the list's. 

So Frank after you join, your IP should change to what ever user name you chose on all the list's here and on Noid.

I've signed up.  It didn't change my IP though.  I have a dynamic IP.  Since it logs the external
IP, I'm pretty sure it doesn't recognize me because I'm not using any of those anymore

Well, that's an easy one.  Just look for the guy that's doing it with the lady who puts the little plastic bobins on the Christmas cakes

It's the wiki page that logs your IP when you edit a page as a "guest".  It does this for accountability issues.  If you log in, they know your username and an e-mail to contact you at.  This is something they would use (or bother with) only in cases where it has been reported that someone has maliciously edited a page.  I would imagine they (the wiki people) could also use that and their databases transaction logs to remove that malicious edit.
