Smallville Season 9
« on: October 02, 2009, 08:45:25 AM »
I'm not sure if anybody else here watches Smallville(I remember dweez once made a comment about Justin Hartely on Smallville) but I have to say that I am sorely disappointing with the season premier. I just watched it today even though it's been around since last Friday. I think Smallville really got good over the years and then started to take a nose dive from the beggining of the second half of season 8(and maybe a little before that?). And being a supes fan, and well, a fan or the show reagrdless, I'm thinking that even though they got renewed for this season and the next, they may not make it through this season to begin with. It sucks, but the new producers just lack the same charisma and Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.
Also , the direction they're taking with certain themes are lame, even for a show based(loosely) on a comic book.

Few things I think are hurting the show:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXSPOILERSXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Spoiler (hover to show)
I had lots more to madam about, but I'm too tired to remember the rest  :D

Also, Smallville freakin owns 40 mins of my day whenever I watch it(I download it and watch it when I've got the time), so I'll stay true to it at very least to see if they improve the quality of the show or to see how it all ends(assuming it isn't canceled  :-\ ). Also, the number of viewers dropped by half for this season. That's so not good.

Also, I'm not bitchy when it comes to shows, and I'm hard to disappoint when it comes to plots and main themes and the like.
So if I'm not liking season 9's direction so far, it's really a big thing.  :P

-Green arrow killing someone. Seems too dark, not even Batman would do that. I'm thinking they'll change that somehow and/or reverse it , and it's going to tie in with Zatanna somehow. I could be very wrong.

G.A. killed someone in the comics.

was a big whoop-dee-doo...

really?

poo. I didn't know. Still, kinda lame for smallville, not because people are dying but mostly because of who he killed and how that contradicts mythos(in excess I mean, since most of smallville is a contradiction anyway) for the comic.

Nevermind, I remember now. That was self-defense though, not cold blooded murder.

Yes, the season 8 finale was sucky assy. The show took a major nose dive from the second half of season 8 on.

Although most of my friends would argue much before that, but I'm too devoted and hard to dissapoint so I've stood by the show

this long. I am very disappointed though.  :-\

The second episode was aired tonight.

I'm still going to watch it, and see how things turn out.

If for nothing else, at least to see how the show ends. It would be lame that I've been keeping up with it all these

years only to ditch it in its last season. But damn, the show had a really great direction in the earlier days. They just damned it up now.

New producers/writers/possibly CGI artist. It's too clunky and predictable. Even sloppily done.

Unrelated(no, not really) I found this pretty good photoshop job of Clark in his primary colors.

It actually looks much better than what the producers envisioned this season.

original "supersuit" for season 9

I would think, even thought the red and blue one from above lacks the true superman look, it can at least pass as a rebooted more

modern version of superman's suit than the black one.

I agree.

The pants could have been blue.

Still, at least the suit has superman colors to it.

The black one gets me frustrated to look at.  >_<

Don't forget Superman wore this suit for a while after his resurrection.  I believe it helped him absorb energy from the sun better.

Right. But in smallville, he's not superman yet, he hasn't died been killed by Doomsday and needed to be resurrected with a suit to cater to his sun absorption needs, and his black suit was a almost replica of his original suit, only black.

I don't think a black leather trenchcoat and a pair of black levis matches that.  :P
