....It must have been like building sets for theatre.....

It was quite difficult as it was sited in between 2 or 3 departments: sports, furniture and garden furniture (the latter 2 actually the same dept just with different areas). You had to borrow a bit from each and then create divisions/walls that still allowed traffic flow to all deptarments. This was back in the day before sunday trading to you got double bubble (double pay) for the day as it was emprty and triple for the night - and the monday off if your manager was feeling generous, otherwise, you were just late in.

I trained as a shopfitter but most of what I did was "on the bench". I actually went back there a few years ago for the fist time in 25 years and, remarkably, a lot of the hardwood fixtures I build were still there!

I haven't been to John Lewis' in many years.  Last time I was in London, I probably went to M&S mostly, and to Harrods to gawk at the gorgeous ceramics in the Food Halls.  We spent the bulk of the time in museums and stately house museums, popping into places like Fortnum's or Liberty's for a snack from time to time.  Everything was so expensive for us, we got very familiar with Pizza Express.  It's also fun to explore grocery stores when abroad.

The fact that those fittings and displays are still there is a testimonial to your craft.  Well done.

I trained as a shoplifter too, but it isn't something I generally brag about.

Don't you mean "shirt" no "shop"?

How very dare me!

No training required for that.

That depends on how clumsy your are to begin with.

Got Pfizer booster yesterday.  I felt fine.  Today, I had a sore arm and by mid afternoon, I was exhausted and had a fever.  It's diminished now, so I'm soon to be back among the living.  Glad I got that behind me.

Are booster shots readily available in the UK?

They are available if you qualify, there is a time period between second jab and booster.

We were told that 6 months after the second dose you get the booster.  I had mine in March, so Nov. was good for me.  I think the booster was helpful as it basically knocked me out for a few hours, suggesting my immune system reacted to it.  I'm glad I got that over with.  I still have a bunch of other shots, mostly boosters, that I need, so I guess I get to look forward to getting poked regularly for the next month or so.

I get my booster tomorrow and my wife had hers a couple of weeks ago. My 15 year old daughter had her first jab a few weeks ago too. We are all oozing with vaccine.

I find it amusing that the booster makes us all feel like poo. It's like irony.

Beats the alternative of course.

Feel like poo today and I had another brutal, 2.5 hour dental appointment to contend with.

I'm going to bed at 9.22pm.

I'm sorry to hear about the advent of more dental pain.  Hope this soon passes.

It wasn't the teeth, it was the Pfizer.

The vaccine kicked my ass. The booster just had me lethargic and a little loopy. Sorry, it's beating up on you so bad.
