Seems like LSE has amazing internet.
I think a lot of universities here have very fast internet connections. They're part of some network thing called JANET and I heard they use fibre optics and lasers and stuff.
Another question for the UK peeps, what's the most popular phone carrier? I need to get a phone and they're all freakin expensive and almost exactly the same.
From my own experience, the Three network gives terrible reception. Unless I'm outside. I only use it because all two of my friends are on Three and I get unlimited calls to them. I also use it because it's cheap.
My T-Mobile phone gets better reception, but I can't afford to put in more than ?5 a quarter into it, so I don't get a lot of fun stuff out of it.
With Orange, you can get two cinema tickets for the price of one every Wednesday. That's nice. I don't think Orange is very cheap though. Tesco Mobile and Asda Mobile are cheap, but I don't know if it includes internet. Internet is important for telephones these days if you want to check your e-mails on the go.
You may be able to get discounts with your NUS card. An NUS card gets you discounts on a lot of things, mostly in shops where you'd be paying too much anyway
. You can get your NUS card from your university's Student's Union, sometimes for free. I think most London universities give it for free. Essex don't
.
That reminds me, Google's Navigation made me take the long route yesterday, I was late for my interview. I will never trust technology again
