Still trudging on post Hernia op.
Giving up the pain killers after a bad episode Sunday night. Being found on the floor outside  or going through my daughters door. 2 ft to to the right it would have been down the stairs  :-[ :-[.
Through the day not eating enough + deflacan x3 + Paracetamol + Codeine x 2 + anti constipate tablets (pain killers cause constipation  :-\) + A lovely bottle of white wine just dont go together.

My wife gave up on the Ambulance after a phone call  at 7.30am asking if we still wanted it.

This sounds very tough on you old pal. Just get stabilised (don't do much - if anything) and wait for the great healer (time) to do its job.

Whatever you do, don't overdo things!

That sucks, goldie.  I'm so sorry for the continued discomfort and it kind of limits the physical tasks you might do to keep your mind off of it.  Is there something you've put off doing that you could keep busy with, like going through files and throwing out old papers or something gentle that wouldn't interfere with the wound healing?

I can't believe it nearly time to turn the Christmas lights on again here. It seems like only yesterday that dweez was busy notating with them!

My decorations go up on the 1st of December so I'll enable the garland and smileys here on that day too.

In the States, they began marketing Christmas decor at the beginning of October, even before Halloween.  It was kind of bizarre.  I can't really explain it.

I did my training as a carpenter in John Lewis which, if you didn't already know, is one of our oldest department store chains. One of my yearly tasks was to create a "Christmas Stationary" department during the night of the last sunday in September. It had started sometime in October but crept it's way earlier and earlier in the year.

No doubt these days they don't even dismantle it.

That's really interesting.  It must have been like building sets for theatre.  My husband is a furniture maker but began as a luthier.  He made guitars for about 10 years before going back to school to train as a cabinetmaker using traditional joinery techniques.

correct, all they do is remove the tinsel and leave the stand and items for sale (mainly Gin and chocolates)
