"Queen was a chart-topping stadium act worldwide, including America, when they released the single "I Want To Break Free," from their album "The Works," in April of 1984. The much-talked about video, which parodied the perennially popular British soap opera "Coronation Street" and was banned by MTV until 1991, depicted all four members in drag. (Drummer Roger Taylor is especially fetching in a short skirt and blonde wig.) It has been speculated that the controversy over the video led to the band's subsequent lack of chart success in America."
