Topic: Can't connect to internet

I just checked on my PC and they're unchecked, so I unchecked them on the netbook, but still no internet (or do I do something first, now they're unchecked?)

Actually ignore that last post. I went to make a coffee, and when I came back in, it was connected. 

It must have needed a minute or two to "collect it's bearings" 

Thanks chaps, my daughter will be thrilled when she gets up tomorrow. 

Tomorrow I may be troubling you with a trojan that I can't shift from my laptop. (2012 something.).

Can you see if your ethernet adapter has a static IP set:

Network connection - Right click/Properties on local area connection (that corresponds with your adapter)- highlight "internet protocol (TCP/IP)" and click properties.

If the lower option of "use the following IP address" is check and some numbers are in the fields, use the first optin of "Obtain an IP address automatically" and click OK.  This should now give you a connection through a cable and I haven't got my wireless comp on at the moment but I think the procedure should be pretty similar with that adapter. Perhaps dweez can help with that as it's land of nod time for me now.

I'd been messing about trying to sort it out for about two hours before posting here. My daughter went to bed while I was scratching my head and looking lost, so her hopes of having it sorted out probably weren't high.
