I just finished season 4.
I must say that John Lithgow's performance was astonishingly good. I knew him only from 3rd Rock From The Sun and I had my doubts if he could pull it off. But he was amazing!
He definitely deserves to win the Golden Globe.

Man, John Lithgow is a great actor.  If all you know him from is 3rd Rock, you need to watch some of his other stuff.

I'm not going to read the previous posts here, in case there are spoilers, but I really did enjoy the first season of Dexter.  Once I get my hands on the second and third and (one-day) the fourth, I'll post my opinions (because that's what we've all been waiting for ;D)

Check out The World According to Garp, not only is it one of Robin Williams' best dramatic turns, but John Lithgow was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor.

Trust me, once you see him in Garp, you'll realize the guy is extremely versatile...  :D

And, yes, he was particularly good on Dexter...

When I saw Lithgow in Dexter the first movie that came to my mind was Raising Cain. The twisted psycho guy fits him.
