Why are people such pains in the butt? Especially on purpose?

I think it's largely unconscious; you'd be surprised how many pain-in-the-arse folks think of themselves as "nice" people. A lack of empathy for others would be my second guess.

Yeah it's really hard to think it's an unconscious thing. It's takes one simple action to realize that you're being an bottom. Listen to the words out of your mouth. Listen to your inflections. Just freaking listen to yourself.
