I'll admit my ignorance, I didn't realize there was a derogatory meaning to the term prior to looking it up. Hope I didn't offend anyone.
 
Anyhow, the beers were cold and tub was hot, great combo

No offence here friend, I was unfairly accused of being a white supremecist in school, and had to do coursework on racism.

Oddly enough, I think the current trend of the Chinese buying up West Coast United States property is directly tied to the alien land act from 1913.

no not insensitive at all.(TBH hadnt heard the word for years)
Its a cultural thing nothing more, a day is never dull when you learn something new

I've only heard it used by Caribbeans. And even then, it not really used as an insult, it's said in a more jovial sense.

If they wanted to insult you they'd call you a bumbaclart.

I have heard of 'coolies' in the ethnic context, but I thought it was a 19th century term used to refer to immigrant workers from China who came to the Western U.S. to construct railroads.

It would never occur to me to connect "coolies" as beer to immigrant workers.  "Cold ones" also is usually a reference to beer.  I guess it could be used to designate those of us who are lacking in compassion, or in GOT, the Lannister family.
