No speedways out here, no Sheetz, mostly just Chevron, AM/PM ArCo, some of the national truck stop chains, Valero, Mobil, 76. No Exxon or the major east coast & midwestern chains.
I once had a job interview in a small town in the south where the head of dept. took me to a gas station (I think it was Sheetz) for capuccino. The coffee sucked. It was clear I'd die a slow death at that job, and the other coworkers in the dept. were pretty dull. The motel where I was lodged was across the street from a Hooters. That pretty much constituted the town's nightlife. Still he wrote me a goofy rejection letter filled with the noblesse oblige of how it's never fun to be rejected, but in that case he was comically mistaken. Really, I would have had a real problem had they actually offered me the position. Dodged a bullet there.
