Gaspard Ulliel - Oh the "Hannibal Rising" guy.

To me he's the 'A Very Long Engagement' guy, so he's sweet and romantic.. and a french hottie. And I never/rarely see scary movies.. so I never had a chance to associate him with anything creepy. I saw the first Silence of the Lambs movie and like it.. but the others were too intense for me.

The Hannibal Lector series you mean xtopave? My husband has read all of them and said they were obviously better than the films which is natural, but he said the films did a really good job of depicting the books.

Yes, I do. I've found "Hannibal" to be specially sick and twisted. The movie is not only shortened and Gary Oldman's character physical condition mollified but the end is completely different to make it politically correct. I could put a spoiler if someone's interested. I liked the movies but the books are much better (as it usually is).

In "Hannibal" (the book) Mason Verger is completely incapacitated. He only has part of his body, he's assisted to breath, he's in a special bed (not ever in a wheelchair) he's in a darkened room because he can't bear light in his only one eye and it's made clear that he has no face. The only light comes from a giant fishbowl where lives his beast so to speak, the same that eats him from the inside out and kills him. Nice, ha.
There are several characters that aren't even mentioned in the movie. Some of them pretty colorful an interesting to the plot.
And then there's the end: Hannibal and Clarisse end up together dancing tango in a pent house roof in Buenos Aires.
I'm sure I'm forgetting other things but I've read it many years before
