Didn't he actually chase the 'alternative' religion into Ireland.

Well I don't celebrate St Patrick's Day because I'm neither Irish nor Catholic (in fact I don't celebrate any saints days because I'm atheist), but happy St Patrick's Day to all who do celebrate it, hope you have a good day.

Yeah, it's not much of a "religious" holiday here in the U.S.  Actually, a few years back, the Catholic church "officially" moved St. Patrick's Day to the 15th because the 17th was part of "Holy Week" (I think it was 2008).  We American's still "celebrated" on the 17th.

I wonder if you "Americans" will still "celebrate" it on the "17th" in "2160", which is the "next" time the "holiday" will have to be "moved"?

In 2008 I drank beer on both the 15th and the 17th.

And the 16th, 18th, 19th...

I don't celebrate most of the traditional holidays and so they escape my radar most of the time unless they prohibit me from doing something.
Like this year, Here in the good old republic of Ireland you can't buy alcohol on St. Patrick's day and so you have to plan ahead and buy a poo load the day before at least. Too bad if you forget the event, I had to spend St. Patrick's day sober.

Let this be lesson to me.

[edit]
I see there is word filter which translates into poo!

Belated good wishes Methiah and I was intending to send you a note personally - but beer too early in the day will always put paid to good intentions.

You can turn the filter off in your profile as it is not compulsory to those over the age of... well, it's not actually compulsory for anyone.

That's good to know. I have been somewhat offended in the past when good old words of English/German extraction are blocked when the continental Europeans use their equivalents very frequently.

You should hear the Italian post-docs in the lab, I wouldn't get away with if it was said in English.

Even so I'll bear the use of expletives in mind as some people do get offended.
