I'm so happy with Uruguay's victory. Their 2nd goal was amazing. Now their next match is against either Ghana or USA. They must be thrilled. Actually I'm watching images from Montevideo and they sure look happy to say the least.

Now Zoidberg is the popular one!

Brave effort by the US this evening, but I think it was the right result on balance.

It's all 'football' from here on in and I really hope tomorrow England actually start to play some. Beat Germany and all is forgiven, whether they progress further or not.

England certainly have the tools to beat Germany if not any team, but getting them all to operate harmoniously, which they need to at some point, seems to be beyond their ability.

I think the English tabloids are going to have a seizure tomorrow morning.

It's not the score that will be in the news, we all expect that.  It is the Lampard non-goal that has made a mockery of the competition and the sport in general - that is the headline.

The 1st half must have ended 2-2 and I've seen enough football matches to know the story could have been a well different one. And England would have made 2 goals in a few minutes. That's not easy to process for the other team.

There are far too many mistakes made by referees in Football for players, teams and fans to take it on the chin.  The fact that we can produce and iPhone but cannot work out a way to determine whether a ball has has crossed a painted line, is at least, absurd!

ABSOLUTELY. But is FIFA that doesn't have the will to make the necessary changes. Maybe now they'll do it. But I've been expecting the changes being made in the last World Cup but that didn't happen.

I know Cricket is a much slower paced game, but I like then fact that the umpires can call on the 4th umpire if they are not sure.  It is not good enough that if the ref and linesman in a football game don't see the ball cross the line, they cannot give it, quite the opposite in my opinion, if they have doubts about their judgement they should seek clarity on the issue elsewhere.
