Brazil was surprisingly very passive after they did first goal and Netherlands grabs the prize.

Uruguay - Ghana match was best game so far,I hope, that todays matches are similar.

Nothing like the Brazil squad of the 70's 80's with Falcao,Socrates and Zico who played with such flair it was a pleasure to watch them play.

I might even put a tenner on a Argentina vs Spain final (would pay ?250)

Not a bad prediction before the competition started, but the math of it meant it couldn't be so like I meantioned here:

but you have to remember that math is involved in that decison as teams would have to finish the groups in a certain position to be able to meet later on in that way.

With that in mind, I think the bookmakers were a bit tight with the odds.

ORANJE! ;D
I like watching the underdog win, but those two goals were so lucky lol. Especially the first. Sneijder was the man of the match. At 5'7" the shortest of the squad and he still scored a header :D
Brazil's reckless tackling was really irritating, though I have to say that the referee was very grounded and fair.

Tonight, it's a bit of a toss up between Argentina and Germany. Argentina probably has the edge. Not overly concerned about Paraguay and Spain.

Paraguay and Spain will probably be 'paint drying' TV, and I am definitely going to record that one and watch it late (need something to help me sleep).

I am gutted with the Ghana/Uruguay game as yet again it's football that promotes 'cheating' as a means to an end and I cannot explain otherwise to my children when that happens.  That said, if you'd offered Ghana a penalty in the last second of extra time to win the game, they'd have taken it for sure and so is their responsibility that they missed that opportunity.

What a marvelous game the Argentina/Germany game was.  Some of the best European style football I have seen in years (from the German side). Simple overlaps, passing and moving and goal scoring.  Germany thoroughly deserved the emphatic victory and I hope they go on to win it now.

Argentina on the other hand: same kind of scenario as Brazil in as much as they couldn't play from behind and looked a shadow of what they should.  I personally can't stand all the rolling around on the floor and trying to get the opposition players booked - perhaps if they had calmed down and played football, they'd have made more inroads into the German defence.

YES! Same problem with Brazil. All that diving and trying to gain a freekick; it's idiotic, they would have done better if they had actually concentrated.

All the dying swans what we have seen there so far makes me sad.
FIFA should take strict line against all of those cheaters.

And if Uruguay wins World Cup? ;D

I agree I'd like the see Uruguay win too.  That way this world cup can be written off entirely for the cheating and unfair farce that it has been.

I'd rather see Netherlands win more than Uruguay. Germany also. Spain is too boringly undeserved; they hardly played any good football apart from the occasional goal needed to get through.

No you're right of course. Both Germany and the Netherlands thoroughly deserve to be there and have entertained above all others.

Let's just hope that there aren't any more 'incidents' in the last 4 games to spoil things even further.
