Best thing you've ever tasted...

Okay I stole the title for the food network tv show :) But what is the best thing you've ever eaten or tasted.

The first time I had lamb chops with apple sauce.

It's difficult for me to give a straight answer to this.

Simple things cooked well are high up my list.

My grandmother's paella.

My mother-in-law's Cheese Soufflé.

Sweet?  The sabaione gelato from a local ice cream parlor.

Sometimes the place and company can bias your opinion  ;) (I'll elaborate after other post their choices)

Multiple  answers are fine , you don't have to choose just one, there are some tasty foods out there.


Paella has always looked good to me but I can't eat it. I've been tempted to down a couple of allergy pills and give it a go, but I'm not bravo enough.

 there was this girl that was allergic to shrimp but she loved to eat it, so when she would go out to dinner she would take a allergy pill before she had dinner if she ordered shrimp.

My brother has a mild iodine/shellfish allergy.  He can get by with Red Lobster shrimp and just have a tight throat/cough for a while but he had some prawns at my wedding reception (don't worry, the marriage didn't take) and had a massive reaction.  A couple of years ago, his in-laws had a "shrimp dinner" for Christmas.  He had about 4 shrimp the had to use his epi-pen.  Poor guy, loves shrimp...it just hates him.

The seafood linguine that was made for me this weekend must come close (I can almost still taste it). It's partly due to the chefs that have now stopped calling me "sick" and put the amount of chili into the dish that I ask for. 

I almost feel Calabrian.
Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can put off until the day after.

There is an exception to every rule, apart from this one.

What a coincidence: I ate seafood tagliatelle two nights ago. I suspect it wasn't as spicy as yours.

Almond crusted tilapia from Devon seafood grill. The sauce is what does it. They call it orange buerre blanc and they serve it with fresh blueberries, strawberries and blackberries.

Beautiful place, was out over the water looking at Diamond Head, and the view definitely enhanced the
dining.

John Dominis, & the Marrakesh were my favorite places to go when I was stationed in Wahiawa many
moons ago.

It's odd how a view can improve flavour.  My favourite restaurant is Le Pont de la Tour in Southark, and apart from it being a top class eatery, it overlooks Tower Bridge which is just stunning at night.

I think that the best experiences, from eating to just sitting on a rock in the middle of the boonies come when
all senses are engaged
I love going out fishing at night, walking through the woods to my favorite spot, the things you see and hear
if you know how to sit quiet are really incredible.
Often take the grandkids with me and they'll put out the folded lawn loungers and sleep while
I fish till sun comes up

Last spring we watched a doe with 2 fawns playing "tag" at waters edge, kids can hardly wait for it
to warm up enough to start going out

A friend of mine living in Rio de Janeiro invited me to Le Saint Honoré (a Paul Bocuse restaurant) in the 37th floor of Le Meridien hotel (now a Windsor) overlooking Copacabana. I remember an almond crusted fish with a lemon and butter sauce to die for. Probably one of the best fish I ate. Probably one of the best views I saw.

That sounds really delicious.

I don't know if I can narrow it down.  I make fresh scones once a week.  We had them today with two new marmalades I made:
meyer lemon with star anise and ricard
guava strawberry with meyer lemon

Wow.  I'm going to make more of those later this week.  I have to go get more guava first.  There's hispanic markets here that carry them regularly.
