Boston
« on: April 16, 2013, 12:22:25 AM »
Found out this morning 16/4/2013 about this tragic incident via Ocheap and the news
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-22162884

Terrible indeed
::) have just seen this story, so sad indeed.
My heart felt emotions go out to anyone who was there or knows someone there.  :'(
To target anyone is terrible but to target a voluntary event, and for many a chance to raise money for charity is terrible.
Who ever did this knew what they were doing, A second explosion 10 sec after the first when people are panicking and running for cover hopefully will give the authorities some idea of who or what group of people favour this style of attack.
Another sad day .

Millions of people wondering why.

New York Times
War Zone at Mile 26: ‘So Many People Without Legs

“These runners just finished and they don’t have legs now,” said Roupen Bastajian, 35, a Rhode Island state trooper and former Marine. “So many of them. There are so many people without legs. It’s all blood. There’s blood everywhere. You got bones, fragments. It’s disgusting.”

"why" has never been of much help in these situations as there can never be any sense involved in it, and usually it simply boils down hatred.

It's odd that now you actually want it to be Al Qaeda, as if the perpetrators were home grown or even something like North Korean, the situation would become even more frightening.

No matter who it was, it is an act of terror.
I tend to think that whoever it was was likely "home grown" and given the number of bombs, and
the coordination involved, it was more than one person.

The thing that I hate most of all is that the people that did this achieved their aim, because world wide,
this is going to change how things are done, and people looking over their shoulders takes away from
whatever event they are attending.

welcome to the fora GrampyTJ
Yes unfortunately they did achieve World wide media coverage.
Pakistani Taliban have already stated they had nothing to do with this.

So what's the latest on this?  I heard they may have one of the perps on camera?

There apparently is video footage of someone depositing a bag similar to that containing the explosive device from the building containing a department store directly across the street from the site of the second explosion.

Rumors have been flying about suspects and arrests, but the fact appears that they have an image, but that they are still looking for someone as far as I know.  I find that the Boston Globe has the most up to date information among the various U.S. newspapers.  Here's a link:
http://bostonglobe.com/

There's a daunting amount of video footage and photos for the law enforcement to go through.  I can't imagine this will take a short amount of time.  What has been reported is that they are running the image through databases for passports, drivers licenses and other images that might help identify the guy.

rumours abound, as no concrete evidence is  yet available as to who , why the press are jumping on anything they think they can sell the papers with.

reddit is dead.

All week, the major news services have been using reddit for their live updates. It's down now. Here is the police scanner.
