Into Darkness.
« on: May 17, 2013, 01:41:04 AM »
ChekovSulu would be on the edge of his seat for this one. It's a hard film to discuss without massive bless'ed spoilers. Like when Chekov *Gasp* or when Sulu [REDACTED] Seriously, I'm having trouble thinking of things to say that AREN'T major spoilers. Bones gets like, five or six of them on his own!

The film goes out of it's way to tell you that NO ONE is safe, but it does not do so in a cliched "Main character gets shot through the head" way.

I will say this, my worries about the female science officer being a damsel in distress were dismissed, she fought as best she could, and ANYONE would scream from a kick like she takes.

The visuals were once again striking, and they majorly cut abrams lens filter budget.

One thing I do need to say that may be a spoiler to some is that the fighting is BRUTAL. No clean antiseptic camera shakes like on the television series. That being said, no one is killed by a randomly exploding bridge console. My guess is that this incarnation of Starfleet invested in surge protectors.

One thing they brought up but was never resolved or commented on, something was medically wrong with Kirk. Bones brings it up before a mission and is dismissed, it never comes up again.

My shoulder was crushed by the person I went to the film with when the dun dun dun went down.

I bless'ed hated the tribble, but recognize why they put it in there (For the stupid).

Still, when my biggest complaint is a single Tribble, the movie is awesome.

I threw spoiler tags around it.  If I caught some that wasn't spoiler, I apologize but haven't not seen the movie yet, I've been avoiding these topics and didn't read it.

If I could figure out how to move oc1's post to the spoiler thread 8ully started, I would have...I feel so dumb.

Wow, that's a mod stress I never even thought existed. How the golly are you supposed to avoid spoilers when dealing with spoilers? IT IS MADNESS.

Also I am totally sad at how dismissive autumn is of this film. So sad.

I remember the trauma of missing the original series which was on TV at the ungodly hour of 8:00. Because of that, and the adult fare (i.e. women in mini-skirts), I wasn't allowed to watch it. I grew up in a very old school European home. My friends didn't and they got to watch the show... So, I grew up with nothing but Star Trek spoilers without the benefit of seeing the show until it was in circulation around 1972.
Perhaps that explains why I am the perennial outsider I am. lol
Estragon: I can't go on like this.
Vladimir: That's what you think.

The only way to do it via this software, would be to cut it out and merge it with the other thread.
Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can put off until the day after.

There is an exception to every rule, apart from this one.
