Now I read that back it may looks like I was going to print that robot - which of course would be ridiculous. I was just learning about the new tools as I haven't touched Maya in about 10 years and I wanted to make some funky keyrings.

Still untextured but most of the modelling done. This just has a basic texture and the background image is actually supplying the lighting:

Key rings?  I thought that robot looked equipped to clean my house.  If it is, send it over.  Pretty cool graphics, though.

If it did clean houses it'd be tied up with mine for the next 18 months.

I know it's a far cry from key rings, but there are so many new tools in the software that I once brushed with that I thought I'd go right in at the deep and and work backwards.

Just about finished all the modelling. Probably won't ever properly texture it as it's very complex and would take far too long for what it's worth, but I'll tidy it up and take some renders on the weekend:

I was watching the news earlier and a report coming out of China, when I noticed - what I thought to be - a remarkable coincidence of a photo that happened to catch an image of a ship that appeared to be sitting on top of 3 buildings:



It was only when I zoomed into the image that I realised it was too perfectly sat to be a coincidence, and I looked it up. Turns out it's this place:

Nope.  I hear Raffles Hotel is pretty fun, although it's more for its imperialist nostalgia that it appeals.  This Moishe Safdie building is of an entirely different order.  He died recently.  I think he first gained fame as the designer of the cubical habitations at Expo '67 in Montreal.  Kind of daring in its own way.  https://www.safdiearchitects.com/projects/habitat-67
