You have my sympathy: screw them for the maximum in termination payment.

As you would know in law it is set to a maximum payout unless a redundancy package is in place ( which there is not). If made compulsory then I leave on the spot. not £20000 ish which is ok if I get a job straight away ish)

Agree with you but The place is so mismanaged. Management had a recent restructure to make us more  competitive to obtain orders, all it did was increase middle and top management personnel and pay. I knew it was coming as I categoricity refuse to allow goods to be shipped to customers that are out of spec where as the team leader is a little more blase.

Back into engineering, better pay, similar work ish, But the best thing is 14 mins from my home so no car needed  4 nights a week. 
I agree with your second statement, sums me up atm.

That's useful. If you're on similar pay (or less but bolstered by your redundancy) then this seems like a blessing in disguise.
