I would consider the genre of music that I prefer to be found in and amongst this catagory but still when I watch some of these vids I think....."Maybe not" I was checking out Metal classifications METAL SUBGENRES on Wiki and was surprised to see how they are broken down. Your guess is as good as mine.......

Viking metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music characterised by its galloping pace, keyboard-rich anthemic sound, bleakness and dramatic emphasis on Norse mythology, Norse paganism, and the Viking Age.

Post-metal movement takes influences from post-rock. While it is in many ways similar to post-rock, post-metal tends to include lower-tuned guitars, darker themes and tones, and heavier drums. Post-metal stresses emotion, contrasting the ambiance of post-rock with the weight and bombast of metal

I must admit I really don't know these subgenres:

1.4 Drone metal
1.11 Neo-classical metal
1.13 Post-metal
1.16 Sludge metal
2.2 Avant-garde metal
2.3 Christian metal

But the rest of them are really different subgenres, easy to identify by a metalhead.

:D Indeed.
But seriously, for me that classification is important. For example I try to avoid everything tagged as black metal, cause it's definitely not my type of metal. Almost the same with death/doom and death metal (few exceptions: Arch Enemy, In Flames and other 2-3 melodic death metal bands).
I'm not into glam metal either.

I still don't get what the hell is Christian metal.  :D :D
