Mad Men is very good. Smoking and anticipated problems with it are woven into the plot line, including Don Draper's full page ad about the danger's of smoking in one episode. Ad men had big accounts with the tobacco companies and they were so complicit in making smoking seem healthful, attractive, etc. My childhood was filled with tv ads of very entertaining smoking commercials. When I went to Brazil, after they had prohibited advertising cigarettes on tv in the U.S., the cigarette ads were so seductive with such beautiful people that it made me want to take up smoking.
You might enjoy the film, Thank you for smoking, about an ad man who pushes cigarettes with great enthusiasm.
We are watching an old BBC series, Reilly, Ace of Spies. With Sam Neill. It's really pretty good, although a bit dated.
