It started airing a year after I was born and although I've got a good memory, it's not that good.  :D

It was still airing in the mid seventies though and I can remember them pretty well. The Goodies were aimed more at my age group which is why I probably found them funnier, but I still liked python. I suppose someone being slapped across the face with a fish is funny no matter how young or old you are.

To be honest I didn't really like Monty Python's flying circus that much, although they did chance upon some great sketches along the way (hit and miss approach imo).  For me they were just a bunch of Oxford trendies that were blantantly ripping off the real genius that was Milligan and 'Q'.

However, I did like what Python became and all their movies.

I didn't watch Milligan first time round, but I've seen them since and you're right they were much funnier. Not Only But Also was funny as well. it's weird, but excellent comedians like Spike & Peter Cook never got the international fame they deserved, yet people like Benny Hill (who I've never found funny) did.

Watched part 6 of 6 of Python tonight. Very good program. I loved reminiscing with the old boys. It brought back many, many fond memories. Both sober and lit up ones. I think this is what Im getting my Dad for Christmas this year.

I don't think either of those wanted to sell out to 'editorial control', the lack of which was essential to their humour.  Of course other greats who were originally teamed with Milligan (like Peter Sellers for example) did manage to combine their unique brand of comedy with some editorial control - and produce something marvellous at the other end.

Home and Away is one of my favourites at the moment.  They have a murder mystery happening right now, and Alf "Flaming" Stewart is the prime suspect.  The writers are trying to make us think it's Will and Shandi who did it, though.  I just wish they had less of that boring teenage romance ploppiness.  Especially Romeo and Indi, they're boring.

Now Zoidberg is the popular one!
