My wife watched 13 Reasons Why, I tuned into the majority of it but as with most Netflix series, the drama is a bit overwhelming at times. Anyhow, she wanted to find out what all the controversy was about, but in the end we both kinda felt some of the critics were jumping to conclusions, especially the "glamorizing suicide" assertion.

The show had people advise them on what not to put in the show, and they did it anyway. So golly them.

My family never talked about my paternal grandfather, the few bits I've pieced out were a terminal cancer diagnosis, a shotgun, and that my dad found him in the garage.

My dad never mentioned his father, ever. Neither did grandma.

I hear that the show is sold as a mystery, but that there is no mystery.

In which case, it's just glorification of suicide. golly that.

mishca, I watched the first episode of Hap and Leonard last night and it was pretty entertaining, so thanks for that.

I'm looking forward to that, particularly as I'm running out of stuff to watch. Ran across Damian Lewis in an American detective drama, Life (2007).  This show -- smart ass cop who returns to the job after being wrongfully imprisoned for 12 years -- only works because of Lewis' remarkable acting ability, along with a solid cast.  I guess it ran for 2 seasons before being cancelled.

mishca, I blasted through Hap and Leonard, which I liked, and  look forward to the next season,

We must have similar tastes in tv.  I just watched a few minutes and found myself laughing.  Thanks.

IMDb: Corner Gas 10 year old series but it's very funny and somewhat unique.

I'm watching Fear The Walking Dead early (I usually wait for the whole season to complete before starting) and so far it hasn't pissed me off like the mother show.
Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can put off until the day after.

Back to Orphan Black.  There's only so much of Drew Barrymore eating people's fingers I could take before changing channels.

I still need a brain cleanse from too clever world. I don't care for zombie shows, and the expanse is a pale, pale imitation of proper space opera.

Back when I thought I was gonna die, I decided I wanted to watch the new star wars and farscape.

Star wars was a letdown, and farscape got cancelled. What I liked best about star wars was the optimism of survival, which the new film flushed. Much like star trek, they removed the charming aliens, like the little bat face dude at the bar from the original, into nightmare beasts from hell, like the bald robot guy from star trek who looked like the cadaver from resident evil.

What I liked best about farscape was the way chriton had no sentimentality in his game. Yeah, he came to love the crew of moya, even sparky, but he realized he was in a living nightmare, but kept the swagger alive, even if it was breaking him down piece by piece.

I might just rewatch bb, but I'm kinda stumped here.

Just finished OUAT. Loved it.

I can't believe that's still running. We kinda got distracted in season 2 and never picked up on it again.

I'll stick it on the TV bucket list.
