I'm considering watching "What we do in the shadows" I read they did a straight up horror episode in a comedy, and that peaked my interest.

I watched the original movie, and they kind of do that. There's "Funny funny funny" and then there's the reality of what a vampire would be.

It really strikes home when the werewolves can't chain themselves up in time.

I hear they snagged Mark Hammil for a guestie in the latest season, so that's a draw too.

I can't say anything good about sex in the city. Like at all.

I kind of dig that Leonard Nimoy burned the photographic negatives when he found out Kim Cattrall posed on the bridge of the Enterprise in nothing but Vulcan ears.

They gave her the most severe bowl cut I have ever seen in that film.

Right now I want RDM (Ronald D. Moore) to just roll through the police and hospital procedurals with the "You are all bastards and here is why" episodes. It would be Cathartic. And he could probably direct the golly out of a bottle episode.

I imagine he could work a bloody firefight into an episode where all the actors are skyped in. Sorry, is that ZOOMED in now?

Unfortunately the sites I use are weirdly strict with the search function, I got no results. Might look for a site that caters specifically to bbc content.

Have you considered contacting them?

I checked mv group and came up empty.  They're particularly good for having documentaries and a whole section devoted to the BBC, so I was hopeful, but didn't find anything.

If you go to BBC Archive, they seem to have Real Story with Fiona Bruce.  I don't know how far back they go, though.

Have you considered shooting Fiona Bruce an email?  She seems nice enough.  Who knows?  Maybe she can help?

On a different topic, I just watched the 5 part "Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer."  It was decent, but a bit longer than it needed to be.  amazon prime.  It was kind of amazing to hear all these people who worked with him saying they could not believe he'd be a murderer, that he was a soft spoken, pleasant fellow.  He was a master manipulator.  And a genuine sick f**k.  If you don't know of him, this is a reasonable documentary in the true crime genre.  If you don't have the time to watch, the Wikipedia entry is pretty interesting.  The documentary emphasizes the women that he courted and interviews psychologists, cops, and others who came into contact with him in various contexts.  It tries to put a feminist spin on things, which is somewhat refreshing.

Comrade Detective.

This is hilarious.  amazon managed to underwrite an American version of a 1980's Romanian detective/cop series that uses politically correct assessments of capitalism and crime.  They constantly mock the failed capitalism of the United States.  It's been "restored" and dubbed into English.  We watched the first of the episodes tonight.  It's Eastern European kitsch at its best.  The street scenes and mix of traditional architecture with the Post-War reinforced concrete construction of Eastern block cities makes the scenery almost as entertaining as the plots.  It was purportedly approved by the State board of cultural diversions, or some similar agency.

My favorite lines from the first episode, "there are no corrupt police in Romania" and, in a casino, the male protagonist wins at a table, and the croupier asks the secret of his success, he retorts, "I always bet on Red."  Bwah ha ha.

I love that, in the bars, everyone is fixated on the national sport broadcast on television:  Chess.  The characters are always remarking on the game, like "Nice move!" or "I don't think so, he's just put his queen into jeopardy..." etc.  No football for these guys.

There are actual Romanian actors whose voices are dubbed over by known American actors.  The whole business is pretty creative and entertaining.  Here's the Wikipedia entry that explains the production.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comrade_Detective

6, you want to watch "what we do in the shadows". It's dumb, meta, deep, and fantastic. Guillermo in particular, I believe will suit the kind of character you enjoy.

I'll check it out this evening.  I watched the first couple of episodes.  They were pretty entertaining.

Just finished episode 3 of Comrade Detective.  It's so funny.

Last episode's description of the Game of Monopoly was brilliant:  it's a game in which the winner buys all the property and gains all the money, thereby driving his friends into poverty and suffering.  At the end, the winner has the property and the others can't afford to pay him rent.

This episode regarding religion was also funny.  I won't elaborate, but the Romanian state does not look kindly on this practice.

We are down to the last few episodes of "Z Nation" and I am more than thankful for that. We started watching it at the beginning of the lockdown as we thought 5 seasons should last about the same length of time as the restrictions would.

I gotta say that it has been a tough grind as there are times when that show doesn't know whether it's coming or going. We've come too far to bail on it now, but I may well celebrate once it's over.

Not really my favourite I know, but I'm posting here anywho.

I haven't heard of either one.  I'll check those out just because I'll soon run out of What we do in the shadows, which is acceptable and sometimes downright entertaining/funny.

I'm back to watching Billions, a brilliant show that tragically jumped the shark a season or so ago.  Now it's just irritating.  Everybody is a jerk.  And a smartass.  Gak.  What a waste.

For cop/detective genre, I'm waiting for the return of Jett.  That's pretty good, but on hiatus.  Comrade Detective continues to be well worth watching as a very well crafted spoof.

Currently watching

Stumptown: despite the fact that it was obviously driven by a cultural box-ticker (omnipansexual girl lead? check. First Nation relatives? Check. Downs brother/ sidekick? check. Rainbow coloured cast? Check etc.) I am finding myself enjoying it. I like Maria Hill, so I may be biased.

Emergence: I'm struggling to see how it could be any more derivative (and I am having difficulty seeing the Kurgan as a sympathetic dad), but I am also enjoying this.

Duly entered onto the bucket list.

I am so sad to learn that there is only one season of Comrade Detective.  It was so entertaining.  Just 6 episodes.

I checked out Emergence and Stumptown last night.  Both look promising, so thanks for the recommendations,

The witches we've been warned about thus far in "what we do in the shadows" finally showed up. Also there was a goat.
