That sounds like a promising series.

More info on Romans who are conquering what will become Britain.  They are not nice people, generally.

We followed up Boundless (about Magellan) with the Secrets of the Dead episode on Magellan.  It was enlightening as they'd done a good deal to compress the tv series (Boundless) and make it more compelling.  I use cloves and nutmeg regularly and don't think twice about how precious they once were and how essential they were to food preservation.

Had to bail on Servant as it was doing absolutely nothing (by season 3 and a bit) so started on Lisley's Story. Bailed on that after the first episode as it's pace and lack of movement reminded us far to much of Servant. What is going on with Apple TV. Are all mac people that bleak?

Anywho.. Started watching Keep Breathing and we absolutely love it.

Bleak is my middle name. Actually, bleak would probably be several of my middle names if I had any.

I refuse to watch Mr Night <whatever> any more, as after I See Dead People I tried several of his, and they all seem to be seeking the same thing, to recapture a once-in-a-lifetime twist.

Lisey's Story is Stephen King, and he does bleak better than most, to be fair. Again, not for me. I quite enjoy (most of) his books, but have never enjoyed his movies/ TV shows. (I prefer to skip the graphic bits that he indulges himself in, which is easy in a book, but not so much on the telly. Even his family-friendly stuff like the prison ones have really really unpleasant bits in, for no apparent reason.).

On Apple TV I have only watched Ted Lasso (season one. Giles makes a great baddie) and For All Mankind (seasons one and two, and I will get around to three). I tried Schmigadoon, but gave up half way through episode one, and something about a computer game company (less than five minutes). I really want to watch Foundation, but I can't start watching that until I am sure that they are going to finish it: it would be a crying shame to enjoy it but have it never finish.

I got the feeling that in both the Apple shows I mentioned, the actors were getting paid by the word and the mournful music they got for free.

Consequently, a script was produced that even Keanu could handle.

Britannia seems to have jumped the shark.  Main female character mysteriously undergoes a wardrobe change and finds a bunch of mascara and eyeshadow.  Huh?  Zoe Wanamaker's hair has been moussed up via circa 1980's music video.   Donovan's hit parade gets inserted at odd points.  The 1960's British Celtic revival playlist is getting an airing on this show for sure.  Just wondering when Fairport Convention and Fotheringay tunes will play.  The Druids look like a bunch of worn out British rockers.  Presumably, IRL, they were a bit healthier.

I'm waiting for Iggy Pop to show up.  It would really help things... maybe accompanied by Keith Richards.

This is a Sky/AmazonPrime co production.  I hope the actors are getting paid well, as there's lots of fine veteran BBC actors in the cast who probably don't make as much for the programs that BBC produces.  The acting is fine, but I have some questions about the casting, and the writing verges on the ridiculous at times.

I watched Luden, a quirky German show about pimps and prostitutes in Hamburg.  It was a 6 episode miniseries set in the 1980's.  It was ok, but I think the American series, "Deuce," set in the same time frame and also including the porn industry was more compelling.  Luden is available on amazon prime.  amazon prime does offer some interesting European series that are otherwise unavailable on American television, but the quality varies quite a bit.  The cast was talented and the scenes convincing.  It's just kind of depressing.

I watched “The Great” on Hulu.  I really enjoyed the actress in the Maleficent movies, brought me to it.  I thought it was funny, corny, raunchy, all the dumb things I enjoy from time to time.  Also fun.
I’m watching “Russian Doll” now, I’ve been in love with this actress since kripendorphs tribe (no idea how to spell that) and she also did modern vampires 🧛‍♀️

Started watching Barry as the episodes are short and it looked a laugh.

7 episodes in and I'm not laughing much any more. It got dark and the only funny thing left is the Fonz.

I like it, though.

The show continues to get darker.  I like it, too.  I'm looking forward to seeing the final season.

One of the things I both like and dislike about Barry is that it sets up a premise, and then goes down a different road.

It seems like it's going to be one of those dark comedy movies where an actor becomes more and more famous, and has to keep killing to cover up his past.

And that's not what the show does at all. It got very dark, and then kept going.

It has some great character actors, too.  I'm just not sure that the arc of the story is really under control any more.  It's hard to see someone pulling a rabbit out of a hat at this point so that there will be a happy ending, or at least a chance to end one's days working at Cinnabon.  But even that didn't work out for Saul Goodman, so who knows?

So late at night I watch shows by myself and last night I started trying to watch The Citadel on amazon prime.  The music alone was enough to drive me away and the whole thing seemed sort of heavy handed and lacking in any subtlety.  There was Stanley Tucci, as a bonus cast member, who served to convince me that Mark Strong is a better actor.
Then, after giving up on that, I opened the first episode of Carnival Row.  At least that has better CGI and fairy wings on people that seem to defy the laws of physics in their ability as slender means of lift to carry the loads they're assigned.  And boats!  But anyway, I got tired and went to bed in the middle of it.  Amazon prime is good in that it lets you quit and come back to where you were.  I think I tried to watch this before and gave up.  Maybe I'm desperate.  If anyone has any opinions about the relative merits of either show, I'm all ears.  Are they worth the time?

Farzi (Fake) on amazon prime.  Hindi black comedy on amazon prime about counterfeiting.  First episode is pretty entertaining.  Set in Mumbai.

This Barry sounds like a show I watched on Netflix recently called “You”
I liked it, again, it was corny and modern in it’s funny dark appeasement.
I will try Barry when the time comes.  What network is it on?
