Finished The Bear tv series

In the interests of animal consistency, we began watching the German detective series, The Fox, last night.  The main character is a former Staasi spy who teams up with an Arab shopkeeper.  It's pretty engaging.

I'm quite into Strange New Worlds and I must say that it's the most Star Trekky thing I've seen since TOS.

Can't stand Kirk in it, though, and Spock is just pathetic (literally, not insultingly).

"A Very British Scandal" is back for Season 2 on amazon prime.  With Claire Foy as Margaret Campbell, Duchess of Argyll and Paul Bettany as the Duke.  Good cast and well written.  It's based on an actual story.  Nice period costumes.  Basically fancy adult soap operas based in the 1950's and 60's.  An alternative to the usual PBS Sunday evening "Masterpiece Theatre."

The best part so far is the Duke grumbling about doing an ad for Argyle socks.  That was hilarious.  There's nothing quite like the privileged whining about needing to earn money.

My local public library is wonderful in offering all kinds of e-services, including books and streaming movies, tv, and other videos.  It offers lots of European detective shows.  I've been working my way through various French series, and Cherif is a pleasant, if fluffy, show. The protagonist, Kader Cherif, is a wisecracking detective of Algerian descent who constantly quotes from American cop shows, citing them by season and episode.  He has a poster of "Shaft" in his office.  His partner, an intelligent woman who is equal to him in rank, tolerates his offbeat personality and is a fine detective in her own right.  They strike a balance.  There is, of course, constant flirtation, since, like most dramas, the police is staffed with impossibly good looking personnel.

I'm in Paris from the 8th until the 12th. It's a present for TNG's 21st a couple of weeks back and we are going to 3 race meetings over 3 days. I hadn't realised that the time we land is the exact time that France play in the Stade de France. God knows what the traffic is going to be like?!

Just watched  The Wheel of Time series 1, if its classed as TV

I saw the first episode of Season 2 last night.  Maybe I needed to watch Series 1 again.  Lots of pretty young people and some good CGI, but WTF?  Dark forces at work, and of course we need to be dealing with thwarting them.  OK.  Very soap opera-y, though.

I'm still amazed that they have such clean clothes.

I am trying to make time for this, as I read all four hundred and thirty seven books, but I am slightly concerned that at the rate they are going if they film the whole saga, the pretty young actors will be in their late nineties - at least - by the time it finishes.

I am also intrigued as to how they deal with the a'dam, as I was desperately unsettled by it, and in these "enlightened" times, that whole concept will likely go down like a lead balloon

Sometimes when books are not all that fun, it seems like you must be reading 2 or 3.  The best books are the ones where you get to the end and feel sad that they're ending.  Kind of like a movie you like so much, you sit through a second viewing.
