Valkyrie: 8/10
Even though everyone, but the most ignorant, know how the movie is going to end, it doesn't make it any less entertaining. Cruise was passable as Stauffenberg, but a bit flat. I would like see what the movie would be like if Thomas Kretschmann got the role instead (jeez, how many WWII films has this guy been in now? he's still great though). Totally did not recognise Eddie Izzard. Supporting cast was very good. I swear Stauffenberg's wife rolled her eyes at Cruise when kissing him. EXPLOSIONS! Very action-y. Good watch. Noticed half the cast were in Pirates of the Caribbean lol. I know there's nothing to praise about Nazis, but they do have really nice uniforms.

LOL

Little known factoid:

When the Pirating business dried out, the (now) former pirates became Nazis... :P

I just watched

Pucker Up:  The Fine Art of Whistling (2005)

and I recommend watching it only if you like whistling and like documentaries.
If for some reason, you hate whistling and whistlers, watch something else.

Basically, it follows different whistlers from different backgrounds on their quest to become the
best international whistler.  Along the way, the documentary addresses whistling in history
and popular culture as well as various techniques you may never have heard of.  There are
even a few cultural groups discussed that use whistling for communication.

It's a really compelling documentary, and I found myself whistling around the house afterwards.
If anything, the whistling talent alone makes this film worth watching.
Size, it doesn't matter to me so long as I get it...Gotta go now.

Zack & Miri Make a Porno

I thought it was really funny. I laughed out loud many times. It's a decent flick...

But Kevin Smith is entirely too self indulgent.

The deleted scenes pretty much go through the whole bless'ed movie again! We had to stop watching them even though some were funny...

Damn, now I want to see the deleted scenes.  The "DVD" I had didn't have the deleted scenes on them and I can't find them on Dem.

I just watched

True Stories (1986)

for the first time, and this is one of the better movies I've seen in a long time.

It's a great document of the 80's (in a very surreal and absurd way).
Much of what sold this movie for me is bizarreness of this fictional
town in Texas.

If you're a fan of David Byrne and the Talking Heads, this is a must see.
The musical numbers are great, and Byrne's performance is so quirky
I found myself chuckling and shaking my head most of the time.

John Goodman is also pretty great in this film.

That was one of the last VHS movie I ever rented. I will agree for nostalgia sake but other than that............I think it would be fun to see today though. David Bryne is indeed one of my favorite freaks of nature.

You should watch it again  :)

I will say that it's definitely "dated" in terms of its content, but I really think that even
someone who didn't grow up in the 80's would like this film if that person was
inclined to enjoy absurdity  :)

Why go back in a collection when you can just upgrade (or downgrade) to a free digital copy?  ;D
