Odeon says “
If you liked ‘Transformers’ and ‘Star Trek’, you’ll love ‘Moon’”. That may be true, but I’m pretty sure I felt my brain cells dying when watching Transformers and Star Trek was really only a little above average (*cries a little*). A better comparison would be Silent Running and maybe 2001: A Space Odyssey.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with it being a Duncan Jones film (Zowie Bowie!), I suppose I was expecting something really bizarre and esoteric, but it’s really nothing like that. A simple and easy to follow story line, with lots of atmosphere and, for the first time in lord know how long, I was completely immersed. Except the bits with the CGI arm, and the sex scene. Sex scenes always make me wonder what the actors are thinking while they're at it.
The friend I went to watch it with isn’t a major fan of science-fiction, she liked Star Trek TNG and DS9, but rarely anything else. She
is into period dramas and has dragged me to some god-awful romantic comedies. She liked this film a lot and on the bus journey home and kept on talking about how much she liked the film and wanted to understand it more (elaborating here would involve spoilers).
The following may ruin the film for you:
